As a California employer, you can face serious civil penalties and wage claims for these issues. 2๏ธโƒฃ Workplace Violence Policies California now requires employers to have a written workplace violence prevention plan with training, incident reporting, hazard assessment, and corrective action. The Workplace Know Your Rights Act requires employers to provide a written notice to all employees outlining their legal workplace rights. The notice must be distributed to current employees and included in onboarding for all new hires. This notice was already due February 1, 2026. The rules around meal breaks, rest periods, overtime, final pay, and pay stubs in California are specific. Not general. Not "close enough." Specific. And the gap between what most employers think the law requires and what it actually requires is where most claims are born.
