1. My job is something I do, not who I am. 2. I am valuable even when I am not being productive. 3. My worth cannot be measured by emails, deadlines, or performance reviews. 4. I deserve peace on Sunday without earning it first. 5. I am allowed to rest without guilt. 6. Work is only one part of my life, not the center of it. 7. I bring meaning to my life in ways that have nothing to do with my career. 8. I can handle tomorrow without sacrificing myself tonight. 9. I am more than my title, my salary, or other people’s expectations. 10. I belong to myself before I belong to any job. I’m Tobi and I am building a life I love outside of my 9-5. For more encouragement as you navigate your personal identity while building a career, stick around and say hi🫶🏾 #adulting #9to5life #worklifebalance❤️ #careertips #anxiousgirl

High performing corporate women - No one will tell you to fix this, so YOU need to take action. 1. You’re the go-to for tasks, not opportunities → More work ≠ more growth → You’re trusted to execute… not seen as a leader 2. Feedback is always “you’re doing great” → But never “here’s what you need for the next level” → No direction = no promotion 3. You train people… who pass you → You’re building capability… just not your own visibility → That one hits 4. Your boss says “just be patient” → No timeline = no plan → And no plan = no promotion 5. Your role keeps growing… but your title doesn’t → You’re doing more… without being seen differently → That’s a silent promotion - and it doesn’t pay the bills 👇 And if you don’t catch this early - you can stay in this exact spot for years… doing more and more. If this feels a little too real… comment INSIDER and I’ll show you exactly how to fix it- and start getting recognized at the level you’re already operating at. #corporatelife #corporate #careeradvice #highperformer #careertips

Here’s exactly how to be taken seriously at work by your supervisors and senior colleagues: 1️⃣ Speak in conclusions, not summaries Instead of: “So basically the contract says X, Y, Z…” try: “My recommendation is we proceed with X because it limits risk on Y. Before you speak, ask yourself: “what is the decision here?”Then lead with it. Partners don’t just want information, they want direction. 2️⃣ Slow your delivery Nerves = speed. Authority = pauses. Practice speaking at 80% of your normal pace and consciously pause after key points. It gives people time to absorb what you’re saying and makes you sound more considered instantly. If you feel rushed, you’ll sound junior (even if you’re right). 3️⃣ Know your files better than anyone else You don’t need 10+ years experience to be impressive, you just need depth. Have a mental map of key dates, risks, stakeholders, and “what could go wrong. Before meetings, ask yourself: “if I were the partner, what would I ask me?” Then prepare those answers. Being across the detail builds quiet authority fast. 4️⃣ Ask sharp, strategic questions Avoid asking things you could Google or skim from the document. Instead, ask questions that show forward thinking: “What’s our strongest position if this escalates?”“Is there a commercial reason we wouldn’t take a stricter approach here?” Good questions shift you from “task doer” to “trusted thinker.” 5️⃣ Dress like you already have the job above you This isn’t about labels, it’s about polish. Think structured blazers, intentional outfits, clean hair, minimal but elevated makeup. When you look put together, people subconsciously assume you are put together. It shouldn’t matter but it does. Being “junior” is a title, not a personality. Save this for your next meeting when you need to switch it ON. #corporatelife #lawfirmlife #careertips #corporategirl #officelife

Why the ”hardest workers“ are always replaced first. 🚩 Ever wondered why the person who does the LEAST work seems to be the most ”valuable“ to the boss? 🤔 Meet the White Cat and the Black Cat. 🐈 The White Cat solved the rat problem completely and was sold immediately. The Black Cat ”managed“ the problem, showing the boss one rat every few days, and lived a life of luxury. In many workplaces, results are temporary, but perceived diligence is eternal. If you solve a problem so well that it disappears, you might disappear with it. The lesson? Don‘t be the cat that clears the room only to be kicked out. Learn how to show your value without destroying your necessity. Does your boss prefer White Cats or Black Cats? Let’s talk in the comments. 👇 Share this to your Story if you’ve ever been the ”White Cat“ at work. 🤍 #TheSimpleTruth #CorporateCulture #WorkLifeBalance #CareerTips #ManagementTruths

Hard truth from someone who lived it 👇 As soon as you give notice that you’re quitting—doesn’t matter if you’ve been there 16 months or 16 years, doesn’t matter how good you are—your leaders immediately start figuring out how to optimize the org chart without you on it. I know because I was in that seat. No matter how personally sad I might have felt that someone was leaving, no matter how big the hole that needed to be filled—that was my job. Because at the end of the day, business is business. So if work is consuming your nights, your weekends, your peace of mind—remember: you are replaceable to them. But you are not replaceable to your family, your health, or your life. Stop letting work stress take over the rest of it. 👋 Hey, I’m Ellen—ex-corporate exec sharing insider tips + actionable tools with a side of slightly unhinged work humor. ✨Follow @heyellenmeyer if that’s your vibe. 🤙 . . . #corporatelife #workadvice #careertips #workboundaries #womeninleadership burnout prevention
