ACWhen Access Life began, it started with a simple but powerful belief, that no child fighting cancer should have to worry about where they will stay.
This week, our Founder & Chairman, Girish Nair, was invited to share that journey at The Founder’s Dialogue hosted by India Leaders for Social Sector (ILSS), as part of their Board Leadership Program at the IIT Kanpur Outreach Centre, Noida.
An alumnus of the ILSS Board Governance Program himself, Girish reflected on how governance, stewardship, and strong boards play a critical role in building organisations that endure beyond their founders.
In a room filled with founders and board leaders, he spoke not just about building centres, but about building an institution, one that is rooted in compassion, strengthened by governance, and sustained by purpose.
He shared the early uncertainties, the faith of donors, the resilience of families, and the evolution from a single “Home Away from Home” to a growing national network supporting paediatric oncology families across India.
Because in the end, leadership is not about scale alone.
It is about responsibility.
It is about stewardship.
It is about ensuring the mission outlives the founders.
