FICHEUNG FUN (hack) 😋
Cheung fun in China or Bánh cuốn in Vietnam are ultra thin sheets of rice noodles that can be filled with various fillings and topped with different sauces… perfect for summer!🫶

RECIPE (6 rolls, 25min prep time):
-250g of your favorite mushrooms
Fry until all the moisture is gone.
-1/2 Tsp each ginger and garlic powder
-3 Tsp teriyaki sauce
-a handful fresh cilantro
Mix it.
-6 sheets of rice paper
Briefly dip in cold water and place in an oiled plate.
Add some filling, roll like a burrito and brush with a little oil.
Steam for 5-6min or microwave for 1-2mins.
Sauce:
-2 Tbsp light soy sauce
-2 Tsp dark soy sauce
-5 Tsp sugar
-1/3 cup (80ml) water
Else:
-chili oil, crispy onions, chili oil
Garnish your rolls and enjoy.

REZEPT (6 Rollen, 25 Min. Zubereitungszeit):
-250g deiner Lieblingspilze
Anbraten, bis die Feuchtigkeit verdampft ist.
-Jeweils 1/2 TL Ingwer- und Knoblauchpulver
-3 TL Teriyaki-Sauce
-eine Handvoll frischer Koriander
Vermischen
-6 Blatt Reispapier
Kurz in kaltes Wasser tauchen und auf einen leicht geölten Teller legen.
Etwas Füllung darin verteilen, wie einen Burrito rollen und mit etwas Öl bestreichen.
5–6 Minuten dämpfen oder 1–2 Minuten in der Mikrowelle erhitzen.
Soße:
-2 EL helle Sojasauce
-2 Teelöffel dunkle Sojasauce
-5 Teelöffel Zucker
-1/3 Tasse (80 ml) Wasser
Anders:
-Chiliöl, knusprige Zwiebeln, Chiliöl
Die Rollen garnieren und genießen.

HEMaking rice noodle rolls with rice paper!!! I used the method from @andreanguyen88’s cookbook and I was surprised how well it worked! It’s a nice shortcut for when I don’t feel like busting out the cheung fun box.
Some cooking notes:
• I recommend lightly greasing the plate you use for steaming. My first batch stuck to the plate 😩
• let the rolls cool for a few minutes before lifting the rolls from the plate. They’re still very soft and gooey when they’re piping hot
• these rolls are filled with my mushroom cheung fun filling
• soak 4 or 5 sheets at a time; if you don’t want the sheets to stick, insert the paper one at a time. I accidentally inserted a short stack together and some of the rice paper stuck together. It actually wasn’t too bad of a mistake because the rolls were thicker, and I liked the thicker texture.

Rice batter is poured onto the tray, then the ingredients are scattered on top, our pick: shrimp, scallions, bean sprouts, herbs and a egg whirled in. It’s steamed, rolled and slathered in sesame seeds, Joe’s special soy sauce & chile oil.

THIn Wan Chai, we decided to check out Cheung Fun Wong 腸粉皇, a popular street food vendor known for their cheung fun.
We ordered the cheung fun, siu mai, and fish balls. When the cheung fun arrived, its silky texture and sweet soy sauce made it a standout. The siu mai fish balls were complimentary too, adding to the mix of flavors we enjoyed.
It was one of those simple afternoons that felt special because of simple comfort food and great company.

- cheung fun has always been whatever to me because it was just some soggy & tasteless carb drizzled with soy sauce that doesn’t even get soaked evenly… but this really changed my mind about cheung fun AND blew me away with what it can really do
- first of all the skin was made fresh to order so that already made a big difference in the texture, making it chewy and easier to soak up the soy sauce
- SECOND, THIS IS BY FAR the only place that stuffed LOTS OF FRESH ingredients
- sooo the flavor & texture were on point because you got the natural flavor of pork shrimp egg with a dash of soy sauce to create an umami flavor; so simple yet delicious, healthy, homey, and hearty
👅 black sesame drink small ($2.75)
- I love black sesame so i was on the hunt for the best drink and this DID IT
- i wasn’t expecting it to be so thick and it was a pleasant surprise because I loved it and it wasn’t too sweet either; just a tad bit of sweetness to make it not oddly bitter
- it was so good to sip on in the cold while waiting for my cheung fun
- not sure if I can find anything to top this but will keep yall posted 😎

- this is my second visit and they’ve been consistently FRESH & MIND BLOWING; i had so many cheung funs in my life and nothing impressed me except this
- the portion, freshness, and affordability really can’t top any other places
- the black sesame was also the best drink ive ever had
- the wait could be 45 min to an hour and it’s cash only, but it’s always so so worth the wait
- service is friendly
- a take out place but got a few standing spots and 4 chairs outside HAHA
- easily the number 1 spot for me for cheung fun
