‼️This is Part 2 🦏 you NEED to see Part 1 first ➡️ previous post! ❗️Since so many of you stopped scrolling for Nanjin and Fatu, here’s what’s being done to save them! 🦏 🦏 Two females left on earth, but they’re not going down without a fight! ✨Nanjin & Fatu are mother and daughter, and the last two northern white rhinos on the planet. Neither can carry a pregnancy naturally, and there’s no living males left. But science has other plans. 🧬 The BioRescue Project has successfully created northern white rhino embryos in a laboratory, using eggs harvested from Nanjin and Fatu, and frozen sperm collected from the last two northern white rhino males before they passed. 🧫Those embryos are now being transferred into southern white rhino surrogates at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. It hasn’t worked yet, but they aren’t stopping! 🔬In 2023 they proved it was possible and achieved the first ever IVF pregnancy in a rhino. So the science works! ✨You can visit Nanjin and Fatu in Ol Pejeta from our Porini Rhino camp. Would you make the trip to see them? 📧 rae@gamewatchers.com #lasttwonorthernwhiterhinos #females #unstoppable #conservation #notgoingdownwithoutafight

Faith in humanity restored ❤️ Giving water to dehydrated wildlife can seem like the right thing to do, especially during hot weather, but it needs to be done carefully. Wild animals can become stressed by close human contact, and in some cases the wrong approach can cause harm rather than help. In heatwaves or drought, providing shallow dishes of clean water in gardens can support local wildlife like birds, hedgehogs and small mammals. The water should be placed in a quiet area, refreshed daily, and positioned so animals can easily escape if they fall in. However, visibly weak, injured or severely dehydrated animals should be reported to a licensed wildlife rescue organisation rather than handled directly. #wildlife #conservation #animals #ladbible 🎥: Viralhog

People dump animals like this more than you think. These are White’s tree frogs, also known as Australian green tree frogs. They’re an Australian species that wouldn’t have survived out here. If you can’t take care of an animal, don’t get one. I’m glad I spotted them and got them help. They were dehydrated with ants crawling on them. This is your reminder not to dump your animals. There’s always a store or someone willing to take them in 🐸 @reptile_factory #animalrescue #wildlife #conservation #respectwildlife #frogs

Satellite imagery from south of Grand Ronde Oregon Just because these forests are replanted does not mean they are green or sustainable. Monoculture forests like these are more susceptible to wildfires compared to uncut old-growth forests. They have lower biodiversity, poorer soil quality, and negatively affect water quality. Old-growth forests will not return through clear-cutting and monoculture; they can only recover through selective thinning and careful management. Yes, we need lumber, especially with demand from the United States, but there are better systems we can put in place that preserve—and even improve—forest quality, mainly selective harvesting and thinning. In some cases, ecosystem clear-cutting can be beneficial (for fire breaks, species control, etc.). However, clear-cutting coastal temperate rainforests does not mimic natural wildfire patterns and shows no clear benefits beyond increasing corporate profit margins. Some species, such as deer and elk, may temporarily benefit from clear-cutting, but this only lasts until the canopy closes and the undergrowth can no longer sustain them. I have nothing against the men and women in the logging industry, who work harder than just about anyone I know. #pnw #Oregon #clearcut #conservation

Help us name a little speedster 🐆 The four male cheetah cubs born at the Safari Park in late January are thriving under mom Kelechi’s watchful care. These tiny, tumbling brothers are growing up together behind the scenes at the Carnivore Conservation Center and occasionally making appearances on Ultimate Safari. While the playful pack sticks close, one little guy is still missing something important: a name! Wildlife care specialists describe this cub as spicy, vocal, and the first to tell everyone how he feels, but quick to listen to mom too. Tap the link in our bio to vote for your favorite name. #cheetahcubs #sdzsafaripark
