Dabur India Limited sent me a legal notice. My crime? I picked up a Dabur Real Litchi, flipped it, and read the ingredients on camera. Water. Sugar. Litchi pulp (20.1%). Concentrated litchi pulp (0.62%). Stabilisers. Acidity regulators. Flavouring substances. At the bottom: “This contains 21% litchi juice content.” 21% juice. 79% water, sugar, and chemicals. Then I compared it to a juice with one ingredient: lychee juice. For this, Dabur called my video “disparaging, false, doctored, deliberately misleading, mischievous, and malicious.” They gave me 24 hours to take it down from all platforms. I’m not taking it down. Every word I said in that video is printed on Dabur’s own packaging. I didn’t fabricate a number. I didn’t doctor a frame. I held a product I bought with my own money and read what Dabur wrote on the back. In 2024, FSSAI banned the “100% fruit juice” claim on reconstituted juices because the primary ingredient was water, not fruit. FSSAI called it misleading. If reading a label out loud is defamation, the label is the problem. Not the person reading it. Dabur, here’s a suggestion. Instead of spending on legal notices to silence consumers, spend it on putting more fruit in the bottle. Make a product where I flip the label and have nothing to say. This video stays up. Share it if you believe consumers have the right to read a label and talk about it. They can send legal notices.
