Do you feel the same way? I do not want my home to be a time capsule of what was popular in 2026. I want my home to be a reflection of my life. The places I have traveled, the people I have loved, the sentimental attachments I have formed along the way. I love a timeless decor style, a home thats curated, not decorated. I lean into a traditional home aesthetic. I decorate my home with things I have bought along the way, vintage items found in roadside shops, furniture I saved up for, thrift items, and loads of patterns, textures, and color to create warmth. It it needs to be durable, sustainable, I want it to feel permanent. Little things added with time, that reflect the evolution of my home, not what we was trending online. That’s my home. Even if you’re not new to this, finding your personal style and decorating your space can be somewhat tricky so here’s a little break down of how I used my 345 decorating method to totally transform @littlefashionstylist living room! Save this and share with someone who needs a room makeover 🫶🏻 The 3 4 5 decorating method Here’s how it works- for each space choose a minimum of the following: 3- Patterns 4- Period styles/ Eras 5- Colors and/or Textures First, start off with a minimum of 3 patterns. These will usually be found in your soft furnishings like sofas, chairs, rugs, drapes or wallpaper if you have, etc.., “Solids” do count as a pattern, since not everyone likes pattern. Then, choose 4 eras/period styles that you love. For example, styles could be Traditional, Art Deco, 70s Modern, 80’s Post Modern, Chinoiserie, Hollywood Regency, and so forth. You would choose furnishings within these 4 styles, to not only develop your own personal style, but also to achieve the perfect mix in a room. Lastly, you would use a minimum of 5 colors and/or textures in the space. I say and/or because you might be minimalist and use less, or a maximalist and use more but I find that 5 colors and 5 textures are the sweet spot. This can be used for any space, and is for EVERYONE! You don’t need to be a designer or even know anything about decorating. Figuring out what you like and how you live is KEY.
