I’m 27, and I’m a bit embarrassed to admit: 1. I was terminated from my job on my day off during a 10 min phone call, with reasons added that felt unreasonable. All I did was listen to my manager, and since then, I’ve been barely keeping up mentally, emotionally, and financially. 2. I’ve spent the last two years battling hormonal acne, and it affected my confidence far more than I ever let on. There were months I avoided mirrors, photos, and going out. 3. Being the eldest, I carry a lot of responsibility in my family, and I’m often the one held accountable when things go wrong. That’s shaped how hard I am on myself today. 4. I’m still figuring out who I am outside of school, productivity, and expectations - and that feels scary at this age. I feel like a 18 year old in a 27 year old body. 5. I present as “put together,” but behind the scenes, I overthink everything - what I say, how I look, how I’m perceived. 6. I’ve filmed and deleted more videos than I’ve ever posted. Fear of judgment has stopped me more times than lack of ideas. 7. I love content creation, yet I sometimes feel embarrassed admitting I want to grow on social media - like it somehow cancels out being a nursing student. (It doesn’t, but the guilt is real.) 8. I can be very hard on myself - one small mistake can spiral into self-doubt about my entire future. I’m learning how to slow down while still being ambitious and that balance doesn’t come naturally to me. Posting this feels exposing in a way I’m not used to. Letting go of my ego and the need to appear put-together isn’t easy, but it feels necessary. I’m choosing growth and honesty over perfection. This will be a real and safe space.
