1. Stopped chasing perfection. Clarity, intention, and groove read stronger than flawless execution. 2. Stopped dancing at 100% all the time Control, texture, and dynamics matter more than nonstop intensity. 3. Stopped imitating other dancers’ style. Studying technique is essential. Copying energy and identity isn’t. 4. Stopped relying on counts over music. Musicality separates professionals from trained movers. 5. Stopped ignoring my weaknesses. Training what felt uncomfortable created the biggest growth. 6. Stopped using the mirror as my main feedback Kinesthetic awareness > visual dependence. 7. Stopped blaming limitations. Every body has strengths — professionals learn how to use theirs. 8. Stopped dancing for validation. When I focused on honesty and connection, the work spoke for itself. #professionaldancer #dancerlife #dancerlifestyle #dancerhabits #danceindustry #dancersofinstagram #danceislife

1. Knowing that 5, 6, 7, 8 means get ready you’re about to dance and never being able to unhear where the 5678 comes in every piece of music. 2. Owning an alarming number of random body-care items. Toe tape, massage balls, Epsom salts, resistance bands… your bag looks like a mini physical therapy clinic. 3. Being weirdly okay with pain.Bruises? Normal. Sore feet? Expected. Missing toenails? Casual conversation topic. 4. Stretching in public like it’s nothing. Hamstring stretch while waiting for coffee? Totally fine. 5. Getting emotionally attached to specific studio floors. “This floor has good energy.” 6. Packing 3 outfits “just in case”. Class, rehearsal, backup rehearsal, sweat level emergency… 7. Being totally fine changing in weird places. Bathrooms, hallways, behind curtains—modesty becomes flexible. 8. Hearing choreography corrections in your sleep. “Again from the top!” lives rent-free in your brain. #professionaldancer #dancerlife #dancerlifestyle #dancecareer #dancejob

I’m gonna be so for real with you… 1. You’re not intentional with where your eyes should be If you’re not finding a clear focus throughout the choreography, you’re going to look lost in the movement. Your eyes should always have intention, whether you’re looking in the mirror, off to the side, or in a specific direction based on the choreography. The moment you actually focus your eyes on something, your movement will automatically look more confident. 2. You’re trying TOO hard to stand out No one wants a “pick me”. Even if you’re auditioning for a soloist role, directors still want to see that you’re a team player. You can absolutely stand out in anintentional way (like wearing a great audition outfit, fun earrings, or a cute hair accessory) but the second it feels forced or desperate, it works against you. 3. You’re not walking into the room with confidence This is the very first impression you make. How you walk into the room, how you carry yourself, how you walk onto the floor when it’s your turn… these little details matter more than people realize. Walking in with confidence immediately sets the tone and tells the director exactly who you are before you even dance. 4. You’re not taking ALL corrections It doesn’t matter who the correction is for… you need to take it. Whether it’s directed at you, the dancer next to you, or the entire group, you should be applying it immediately. The last thing a director wants to see is a mistake they already corrected on someone else still showing up in your dancing. That’s how you lose trust quickly. Dancing Sugar Plum through the first half of pregnancy. I didn’t realize how pronounced the changes already were until I looked through old videos. I know it’s only getting more dramatic from here! When I was younger, the idea of my body changing during pregnancy was intimidating. Now that it is happening, I’m genuinely loving watching my bump grow every day. I’ve been anticipating this miracle for years even though it felt impossible only a few months ago. I’m excited to continue this series for as long as possible. 🤞 : : #ballet #dancelife #pregnancy #bumpdate

1. Dancing through extreme pain because everyone else around you is doing it. Dancing through stress fractures, tendonitis, torn ligaments—often with a “no pain, no excuses” vibe. In any other field, that’s a medical leave. In dance? “Can you mark it?” 2. Constant body commentary (from everyone) Teachers, directors, peers, even strangers feel entitled to comment on your weight, proportions, muscle tone, or how you look in your costume. 3. Unpaid or underpaid labor framed as ‘exposure’ Rehearsals, performances, workshops—often unpaid or barely paid, with the expectation that passion should cover rent. 4. Starting adult-level pressure as literal children. Training like a professional athlete at 8–12 years old, internalizing perfectionism, body surveillance, and competition stress and expecting to lead a “normal” life outside of the studio. 5. Comparing bodies as a form of feedback. “Stand next to her.” “Look at their lines.” Direct comparison as instruction would be considered toxic in most learning environments—yet it’s routine in dance. #professionaldancer #dancerlife #dancerlifestyle #dancecareer #danceworld #dancersofinstagram #dancecommunity
