SA* I ALSO RIDE AN ALLOY ANALOG ENDURO BIKE THATS 38 lbs 😂 IT WAS IN THE SHOP, BUT SAME OPINION!*
This is not supposed to be rage bait… it just came out when I was talking about why I wanted the Devinci. I forgot to talk about 2 things:
1) I prefer alloy for its durability and peace of mind. Yes, they can still snap and fail. FOR ME, alloy is more durable. Failures aren’t as catastrophic. Trail noise is a little more damped. I actually like the weight descending and it doesn’t bother me on climbs.
2) I DO think there’s a case for carbon in that it seems with a lot of manufacturers, they reserve their setups that don’t need things switched out for their carbon bikes. It’s like you can get a decent build in alloy or the build you want in carbon. I think that sucks, but I can see why you would buy a carbon bike at that point! Better than swapping half the components just bc you wanted alloy.
