EMI couldn't be more blown away by all of the support and solidarity I've received in the past 24 hours since the "incident" in which I arrived at Minneapolis St. Paul airport via @delta and my power wheelchair was destroyed. There are no words to express my gratitude. I am immensely grateful to have gotten a loaner power wheelchair (which doesn't really fit my body but is workable) so I could make it to Lacrosse and can't wait to do my speaking engagement about disability issues tonight...a job I love, but wish wasn't necessary. And yet it is, because problems like this persist. But I haven't heard a peep out of Delta leadership today, and that's infuriating. Not because I'm worried about my own resolution, but because this is a systemic issue that MUST be addressed, starting at the top with airline executives, the @usdot and the @faa. No one's mobility equipment should be destroyed because they dared to get on an airplane. Ever. I'm privileged to have a platform to advocate, but this happens to far too many people daily and it has to stop. Delta, consider this my invitation to talk and collaborate on educating your team and changing the system together. And consider this your call to heed the advocacy of so many disabled people and allies who have already been working on this for decades.
