Because a lot of emotionally immature parents (EIPs) say, “the phone works both ways” -
But expect their CHIlD to always be the one calling, checking in, repairing, and keeping the relationship going
And when you stop?
Suddenly thry see you as:
- Distant
- Changed
- Neglectful
Yet they don’t pick up their phone to check in…
The irony - or hypocrisy- is hard to miss once you see it🤷🏻♀️
Many adult children were conditioned to OVERFUNCTION in the relationship - until they decide they can’t carry it all themself
To be clear: Stepping back doesn’t create distance…it exposes the imbalance
