The Hillary Step was a famous, near-vertical 40-foot (12-meter) rock face located on Mount Everest’s southeast ridge at 8,790 meters (28,839 ft). It was the most technically challenging point of the ascent before the 2015 Nepal earthquake destroyed it, replacing the rock scramble with a more gradual, snow-covered slope. #mountains #everest #mountaineering #hillarystep #climbing

The Hillary Step. A sobering reminder of Everest’s cost. Here lies a climber who didn’t make it — frozen in time, a silent testament to the mountain’s unforgiving nature. Respect, reflection, and caution in every step forward. #Everest #HillaryStep #Mountaineering #ExtremeAdventure #DeathZone

“Mount Everest - 8,000 meters. The Death Zone. This is the point where your body begins to die, even with supplemental oxygen. And somehow… it was also where I felt the strongest during the entire climb. Even if it doesn’t exactly look like it here. 😅 Most climbers in my expedition turned around before Camp 4 or shortly after arriving here. If you ask me what made the difference, my answer is simple: THIS IS WHERE MINDSET MATTERS THE MOST. At this altitude, mindset stops being _motivational_ and becomes _survival_. -Breathwork. -Systems. -Self-talk. -Fueling your body even when you don’t want to eat. -Staying calm enough to make good decisions under pressure. You prepare yourself so that when the moment comes…you’re ready. One day, I’ll tell the full story of how me and my Sherpa, @lakpa8848, ended up summiting together. We only joined forces at Camp 3, and it’s a story that deserves more time to tell. But what I can say is this: 👉🏼the right people, the right mindset, and the willingness to keep moving forward when things get hard can completely change your life. Somehow, in the middle of one of the harshest environments on Earth, I felt deeply grateful to be there.❤️ Thank you, Lakpa Dendi, for taking care of me, for sharing your experience, and for doing what was right. This was the most impactful experience of my life. 🙏🏼 #everest #deathzone #mountain #climbing

This is Mount Everest 😳 People pay up to $100,000 to climb this mountain and most of them leave their trash behind when they’re done. Gas cylinders, tents, oxygen tanks, plastic, food packaging, all of it just sitting there in the snow. Some of it has been there for decades. Nobody comes back to clean it up because getting trash down from 26,000 feet is harder and more expensive than getting it up there. It’s one of those things that tells you a lot about where we’re at. We’ll spend six figures and risk our lives to stand on top of a mountain for a photo but we won’t carry our garbage back down. The most remote and untouched places on the planet aren’t untouched anymore. Not the deepest part of the ocean. Not the top of the tallest mountain. Today in Khumbu Icefall, a climber slipped from a ladder but stayed safe because both safety lines were clipped. Always clip BOTH safety lines when crossing ladders. Your life depends on it . The Khumbu Icefall is one of the most dangerous sections of the climb to Mount Everest. Here are some interesting facts: * Constantly moving glacier: The icefall is actually a flowing river of ice. It can move several feet (about 1 meter) per day, which makes it unstable and unpredictable. * Maze of ice towers: It’s filled with massive ice blocks called seracs, some as tall as buildings, along with deep crevasses that climbers must cross using ladders. * Extreme danger zone: Avalanches, collapsing ice towers, and shifting crevasses make it one of the deadliest parts of Everest. Many accidents happen here. * Climbed early in the morning: Climbers usually cross it before sunrise when the ice is more stable due to colder temperatures. * Fixed route by experts: Each season, a specialized team called the “Icefall Doctors” sets up ropes and ladders to create a path through the icefall. * Part of the South Col route: It lies between Everest Base Camp and Camp I, making it unavoidable for climbers taking the southern route. It’s both breathtaking and terrifying—a place where nature is constantly changing every minute. 🎥 puri sherpa #nepal #khumbuicefall #adventure #everest #mountains
