NOShooting through the Nikon F3 viewfinder is not for everyone. This camera doesn’t hold your hand. but it does talk to you, if you know how to listen.
Since I’m using a fully manual lens, you can actually see the aperture on the lens itself. And when you remove the HP viewfinder, you’re able to see the shutter speed along with the suggested exposure indicator inside. The meter is there, it’s just subtle. That little bar can be hard to see sometimes, especially when you’re shooting in bright daylight. But it’s there.
The F3 isn’t guessing for you. It gives you information, not answers. You still have to understand light, read the environment, and decide whether to open up your aperture or adjust your shutter speed.
That’s what makes it real photography.

RAENG — Lately, I’ve been painting small watercolor eye studies to explore reflections — but mostly to train my editorial judgment: deciding what’s essential in a painting, what deserves sharpness, and what can be left out.
This time, the rainbow light might have been a bit too much to tackle all at once.
I also made a very simple mistake: I chose a brush that was too small. When it didn’t read the way I intended, I tried to fix it — and, of course, it only made things worse 😅
What I should have done was accept the mistake and work around it, instead of correcting it. That’s something I’m learning: in watercolor, restraint often matters more than control.
I also like sharing moments like this, because mistakes and judgment errors are part of the process — for all of us 😊
FR — Ces derniers temps, je peins de petites études d’yeux à l’aquarelle pour explorer les reflets — mais surtout pour travailler mon jugement éditorial : décider de ce qui est essentiel dans une peinture, de ce qui mérite d’être plus net, et de ce qui peut être laissé de côté.
Cette fois-ci, la lumière arc-en-ciel était peut-être un peu trop ambitieuse à aborder d’un seul coup.
J’ai aussi fait une erreur très simple : j’ai choisi un pinceau trop petit. Comme le résultat ne correspondait pas à ce que j’avais en tête, j’ai essayé de corriger — et bien sûr, ça n’a fait qu’empirer 😅
Ce que j’aurais dû faire, c’était accepter l’erreur et travailler autour, plutôt que chercher à la réparer. C’est quelque chose que j’apprends en ce moment : à l’aquarelle, la retenue compte souvent plus que le contrôle.
J’aime aussi partager ce genre de moments, parce que les erreurs et les faux jugements font partie du processus — pour nous tous 😊

CLHonestly, the SD card makes all the difference.
Jokes aside, creating editorial images is about more than just the gear. It's about lighting and storytelling.
Lighting:
I maximized the effect of Blue Hour by using a warm flash and butter yellow dress. This brings in multiple layers of contrast. Warm and cool + light and dark.
Vision:
This was a last-minute shoot at a random park we found on Google Maps. It was snowy, cold, and boring. Creating editorial content is all about making the most of the pieces you've got.
