“I don’t know why my hormones are so messed up…” Meanwhile the average day looks like: Coffee in a plastic-lined cup ☕ Fragrance-filled laundry detergent 👕 Seed oils in almost every meal 🍟 Synthetic perfume or body spray 💄 Non-stick cookware 🍳 Tap water full of who-knows-what 🚰 Artificial sweeteners and additives 🧃 Endless blue light and no sunlight 📱 None of these things seem like a big deal on their own. But when your body is swimming in hundreds of small exposures every single day, it starts to add up. Hormones are incredibly sensitive to the environment we live in. Sometimes the first step toward balance isn’t another medication… …it’s removing what’s quietly disrupting your body in the first place. I created a FREE 🆓 Happy Hormones Swap Guide! 3 everyday habits that are making you sick: 1. Your detergent and hand soap Most conventional detergents and soaps are loaded with synthetic fragrance and chemicals designed to cling to fabric and skin. That means they don’t just rinse away…they stay on your clothes, your towels, your sheets, and your skin all day long. Many of these fragrance compounds contain endocrine-disrupting chemicals that seriously interfere with hormone balance. 2. Heating food in plastic Plastic containers, wraps, and lids can release chemicals when exposed to heat. These compounds leach into your food and act as hormone disruptors in the body. Swapping to glass or stainless steel is one of the simplest upgrades you can make. 3. Cooking with non-stick cookware Most non-stick pans are coated with PFAS chemicals, sometimes called “forever chemicals,” because they can persist in the body and the environment. When overheated or scratched, these coatings can release compounds linked to hormone disruption and other health concerns. Options like stainless steel, ceramic, or cast iron are better options. Reducing exposure to these things over time can make a real difference in how your body feels and functions. Here’s why 👇🏻 Comment”HOME” for the beginner guide to creating a lower toxin home the easy way. You overhauled your diet and you’re still inflamed. Nobody told you to look around the room. The organic groceries. The clean meals. The no processed food lifestyle. And your body is still reacting. Still inflamed. Still not responding. So you restrict more. Cut out another food group. Blame yourself again. But what you eat is only half the picture. What surrounds you every single day is doing just as much damage. The shampoo. The candles. The cleaning sprays. The synthetic fragrance in your laundry detergent sitting against your skin 24 hours a day. Your body doesn’t separate what you eat from what it absorbs, breathes in and processes every single day. It all goes in. And it all creates a response. Here’s what your environment is actually doing to your body: ❌Disrupting your hormones. Parabens, phthalates and synthetic fragrance mimic estrogen, interfere with hormonal signalling and throw off your entire balance. Your hormones are being disrupted before you even eat breakfast. ❌Inflaming your nervous system. Your nervous system registers chemical exposure as a threat. Artificial fragrance and VOCs from cleaning products trigger a constant low grade inflammatory stress response. The same one you’re trying to regulate. Being reloaded every time you clean your house. ❌Overloading your liver. Your liver processes every synthetic chemical you’re exposed to. When it’s constantly overloaded it can’t regulate hormones, clear cortisol or manage metabolism properly. That shows up as weight gain, exhaustion and inflammation you keep blaming on food. Clean eating is powerful. But it will only take you so far in a toxic home. Real healing looks at the full picture. Comment HOME below and I’ll send you the non toxic home guide on simple swaps that reduce your toxic load and stop your environment from undoing everything you’re working so hard to build.

The real clowns? The “everyday” products we were told are safe. → The lotion full of hormone disruptors → The “fresh” scent that’s actually synthetic fragrance → The cleaning spray that trashes your lungs + gut → The plastic water bottle leaching chemicals into your body → The “non-toxic-ish” swaps that still aren’t it And the worst part? You’re doing all the “right” things… Eating clean. Working out. Trying to feel better. …but your toxic load is still overflowing behind the scenes. 👀 Bloating 👀 Hormone imbalances 👀 Fatigue 👀 Stubborn weight Not random. Not “just getting older.” You’ve just been marketed to REALLY well. ✨ The good news: You don’t need perfection. You need awareness + better swaps. Because healing your gut and hormones isn’t just about food… it’s about what you’re exposed to ALL day long. Drop “DETOX” if you’re ready to start cleaning this up

Most people think they’re eating “healthy”… but don’t realize they’re still being exposed to things that can disrupt their hormones. And it’s not just about what’s on your plate. It’s: • What you clean your home with • What you wash your clothes in • What you breathe in daily • What you put on your skin Your environment doesn’t stay external— it directly impacts what’s happening inside your body. Your endocrine system is responsible for regulating key functions like energy, metabolism, mood, and reproduction. When it’s supported, you feel balanced. When it’s not, your body starts sending signals. That can look like: • Painful or irregular periods • Bloating + water retention • Fatigue + brain fog • Acne or hair changes • Sleep disruptions • Weight fluctuations These symptoms aren’t random—they’re often signs your body needs support. The reality is, we’re exposed to more hormone-disrupting chemicals than ever before. Some of the most common (and overlooked) sources include: • Non-stick cookware • Conventional cleaning products + air fresheners • Plastics + food packaging • Skincare, makeup, and fragrances • Non-organic produce • Tap water contaminants • Hormonal contraceptives The goal isn’t perfection—it’s awareness and better choices over time. And if you’re ready to go deeper and actually support your hormones at the root… ✨ My 8-week hormone balancing guide is designed to help you reduce symptoms like painful periods, irregular cycles, bloating, acne, and more—through nutrition, lifestyle, and simple, sustainable changes. A lot of everyday products can impact your hormones more than you think. Things like non stick pans, polyester clothing, and heavily processed hygiene or makeup products can contain compounds that act as endocrine disruptors. These can interfere with your body’s natural hormone balance over time, especially with constant exposure. You don’t need to be perfect, but being more aware and limiting these where possible can make a difference to your overall health. Click the link in my bio to learn how to optimise your health and lifestyle properly. 💪

Most people think of endocrine disruptors as something in a lab — not something on their bathroom shelf or sizzling in their nonstick pan. But you're likely encountering them before breakfast. Sugar, bathroom products, makeup, alcohol, nonstick pans, plastic containers — these everyday things quietly interfere with estrogen, cortisol, insulin, and thyroid function in ways most of us were never taught to connect. The good news? Small intentional swaps make a real difference. Watch to see what each disruptor is doing to your hormones — and the swaps you can start this week. Save this for when you're ready. 👆 Drop a 🧁 if something surprised you — or tag someone who needs to see this. #endocrinedisruptors #hormonehealth #estrogenbalance #nontoxicliving #womenshealth

When I started studying hormone health more deeply, I realized something that honestly shocked me… Many of the ingredients we apply to our skin every day can interact with our hormonal system. These are called endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). And it’s estimated that women put 168 of these chemicals on their body daily!🤯 Unfortunately these chemicals are slowly wrecking havoc on your system, because they mimic hormones (too much estrogen), block hormone receptors, and interfere with hormone signaling in the body. And considering our skin is our largest organ, everything gets absorbed, so what we put on it matters more than most people realize. This doesn’t mean we need to panic or become obsessive. But it’s not something you should ignore or brush off - - - and that’s why awareness matters. Over the years I’ve slowly swapped out products in our home for options that are: Hormone supportive. Thoughtfully formulated. Specifically tested for EDC’S. Third - Party Tested. And actually effective. Because as much as I preach nutrition, protein, blood sugar regulation, movement, sleep, & stress management…this piece matters too! We have to consider what we’re absorbing every single day. And if too many toxins are stuck in our system - that inflammation will never go away! When you start reducing what’s working against your body, everything else you’re doing for your health starts working better too. 🩷🥰👏🏻 … #endocrinedisruption #toxinfree #hormonesupportive #hormoneimbalance #hughandgracecanada

It’s easy to think hormones just randomly go haywire… but the reality is we’re living in a world where our bodies are constantly exposed to things that can interfere with our endocrine system. Things like: • synthetic fragrance • plastics and food packaging • non-stick cookware • pesticides on food • certain skincare ingredients • PFAS in packaging • household cleaning products • alcohol • ultra-processed foods • even the dust inside our homes Many of these contain endocrine-disrupting chemicals. Substances that can mimic, block, or interfere with the body’s natural hormones. And while one exposure here or there isn’t the issue… daily, cumulative exposure over years can add up. This doesn’t mean you need to panic or throw everything in your house away. But it does mean that small swaps can make a big difference over time, especially if you know where to start. That’s where I come in! Follow @itscourtneydow for simple education on creating a healthier home. That phrase sounds reasonable. But it ignores how daily exposure actually works. Moderation assumes something happens occasionally. Many of the products people use are not occasional. They are daily. Laundry detergent sitting on your clothes all day. Personal care products used every morning. Cleaning sprays used in closed spaces. Some ingredients in those products are linked to real health concerns. Phthalates, often hidden under “fragrance,” have been linked in research to hormone disruption. Preservatives like DMDM hydantoin can release small amounts of formaldehyde over time. Formaldehyde is classified as a human carcinogen and can also irritate skin. This does not mean one product instantly causes disease. But repeated exposure over months and years is very different than occasional exposure. That is why I focus on reducing the biggest daily exposures first. #healthyswaps #nontoxicliving #hormonehealth #hormonedisruptors

Your hormones are being influenced by more than just diet and stress. 👀 Many everyday products contain xenoestrogens, chemicals that mimic your natural estrogen in the body. These compounds can bind to estrogen receptors and disrupt normal hormone signaling. Over time, this may contribute to hormone imbalance, symptoms of estrogen dominance, and even metabolic issues like reduced insulin sensitivity. The tricky part? They’re hiding in products most of us use every day. Common sources of xenoestrogens include: - Plastic food containers and water bottles (BPA) - Canned foods with chemical linings - Fragrance-heavy personal care products (phthalates & parabens) - Non-stick cookware - Pesticide residues on conventional produce - Cleaning products and air fresheners with synthetic fragrances Because many of these chemicals are fat-soluble, they can accumulate in the body and add to your overall estrogen load. The good news: small swaps can significantly reduce your exposure. Simple swaps to start with: - Store and reheat food in glass or stainless steel instead of plastic - Choose fragrance-free personal care and cleaning products - Opt for stainless steel or cast iron cookware instead of non-stick - Buy organic for high-pesticide foods when possible - Choose fresh or frozen foods over canned products You don’t have to change everything overnight, but reducing exposure to hormone disrupting chemicals can support healthier hormone balance and metabolic health over time. Save this post so you can reference these swaps later, and share it with someone who’s working on improving their hormone health. 💬
