LODo you hand wash your knits??
I hand wash mine 99% of the time.. especially after I get eggs Benedict all over the sleeve🙄
Most of the time I spot clean, however this one was ready for a bath 👍💖
Here’s what I do .. Fill a tub or sink with warm water and add a capful of Eucalan… this stuff requires no rinsing!! One of the many reasons I use this for my delicate washes 💖🌸
Then let it soak for 5 min and drain the water. Press down on the garment to get some of the water out and then gently squeeze more water out (never wring it out / no twisting)
Then lay your item on a large towel and roll it up. Push down on the towel to absorb more of that water .. you can even stand on the towel (make sure you take those socks off first or you will end up with wet socks🙊)that really gets that water out. You might have to repeat with another dry towel to get as much water out as possible 👍
Remove the item from the towel and place on a drying rack .. do a little shaping.. I like to gently squish the ribbing together so it dries without being stretched and make sure the body proportions are correct.
That’s it.. all you gotta do is wait for it to dry 👍
What I do between washes for a little refresh … I steam a lot of my garments and that makes them look like new and also kills germs and odors 💖👍

PLWith the new Care issue of PLY out, I’m getting questions about how I take care of my hand knits. So here I go letting you in on my lazy secret — no-rinse wool washes (my fave right now is @eucalan eucalyptus). I just wait until lots of things are dirty, throw it all in the bathtub (or sink if it’s a smaller amount of stuff) with a little Eucalan, then voila! It’s also how I take care of my giant handspun, handwoven wallhangings that I make for the PLY Spinners Guild. Each season I put a bunch of the techniques we learned during that season into one wallhanging and we use it as a backdrop for the season. The one you’re looking at on top here is the woolen season wallhanging and so it’s got 3 types of yarn in it: batts (woolen prep) but spun with no twist between my hands for the warp; the same batts spun supported longdraw for the tabby weft; and rolags doubled-drafted for the pattern weft. Anyway, I adore these wallhanging and have them hanging all the time around the house — no-rinse woolwash is the ONLY way to wash them.
