Even my lowest-level students can now write an introduction paragraph because of this one simple method. This half-sheet is going to help your students so much when it comes to writing their text-based expository essays. Anchor charts are a great reference tool in the classroom, but having a small printout that stays in their writing notebooks is even better! Students can access it right at their desks and at home. Comment MINIANCHOR for your copy! Why it works👇 Color-coding helps students identify each piece of the introduction paragraph. Start structured, then they can add as their writing progresses. How it works👇 It’s color-coded so students can see each part of the introduction paragraph: 🟥 Hook 🟦 Central idea / 3 topics 🟩 Closing sentence If your students can remember three colors and three parts, they’ll be writing intros like pros in no time! #TopScoreWriting #WritingTipsForTeachers #ExpositoryWriting #WritingAnchorChart #TeacherLife

Hot take: Peer editing without training can double your workload. You were told it works. So you use it. You build in the time. You make the groups. Then you read the drafts. And you’re fixing everything anyway! Because “add more detail” is not useful feedback. It doesn’t tell a student what to change, where to change it, or how to improve it. And students cannot give feedback they’ve never been taught to recognize. If this feels familiar, you’re not doing it wrong. You just need stronger systems, not more strategies. Want writing lessons that are already built for you? Writing Our World gives you step-by-step lessons, clear routines, student handouts, and ready-to-teach slide decks, so you don't have to reinvent writing instruction every week. Comment “Access,” and we’ll send the link, and we'll send you the link to get free starter access! How I support all of my Writers AT.THE.SAME.TIME 👏🏻 Comment “Sentence” SAVE to use in your classroom! 🤗 😩 Differentiating writing can feel impossible when some students are forming simple sentences while others are ready for more. ✏️ I needed a low-prep, open-ended way to support all writers—so I created Sentence of the Day! 💡 100+ model sentences & leveled templates mean students get exactly what they need, every single day! 🙌 Imagine your students building confidence in writing at their own level—no busy work, just real learning! 📩 Want it? If your students shut down the second you assign a middle paragraph, you’re not alone. I see this all the time, especially with struggling writers, ESE, and ELL students. Paragraphs feel overwhelming because all the parts blend together on the page. Color-coding instantly changes that. 🎨 When each part of the paragraph has its own color, students can see the structure: • Topic sentence • Detail 1 • Detail 2 • Wrap-up sentence It’s not just more engaging; it becomes a built-in self-check tool. Students can quickly see what’s missing, and you can glance over their shoulder and spot gaps in seconds. I already created a Color-Coding System anchor chart for you that shows how each color connects to each paragraph part. You can print it and hang it up as-is or use it as a reference when you build one with your students using whatever five highlighter colors you already have. Don’t get caught up in the exact colors; the power is in the visual structure. Comment COLOR CODE ANCHOR, and I’ll send it to you. ✨ #writinginstruction #topscorewriting #strugglingwriters #elteachers #eseteachers

Teaching Tip Thursday🩷🤍 Editing Captions and Double-Checking Pictures🩷 This is my first year teaching Yearbook, and our deadlines are approaching. I created a checklist that my team of chief editors uses to carefully review each page before we publish. 🩷Title of Page 🩷Page 🩷Changes That Need to be Made 🩷Check C for Complete and I for Incomplete I go through it and write DONE on the page of pictures in bright pink ink. We have also combined two pages into one when necessary, allowing us to create a new page for upcoming events. I didn’t know there were specifically 4 sentences until years ago when I started reading TWR as a grade 5 teacher in Melbourne. I started teaching in a primary school then went to secondary Art classes. Then went back to primary for one semester which has brought me here to creating this digital product to help everyone and anyone who wants to be better at writing. Initially I made this resource because I was privy to TWR training but not all of it, and I really struggled to organise the book into clear steps I could share with colleagues. Anyway, instead I decided to create a scope and sentence for year 5-9 kids in AU. 15 units that align with TWR in both a teacher guide and student workbook . I even included a unit about using ai and things to look out for. I also called it : The Actual Writing System That Works. When I think about how many students I’ve come across who struggle to write, I just wished I had this knowledge earlier. Check out unit1 for free by visiting my bio #teacherssupportingteachers
