Throwing it back to the 2013 Malaysian Grand Prix—only Lewis Hamilton’s second race with Mercedes. After years of stopping in the same spot, instinct took over. On lap 8, Lewis pulled into the pit lane, saw the familiar silver and white of the McLaren crew, and instinctively pulled right into his old pit box! 🏁👀
The McLaren mechanics—who were actually waiting for Jenson Button—stood there stunned for a split second before waving him through. Lewis realized the blunder almost immediately and accelerated a few doors down to the correct Mercedes garage. Even his then-girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger couldn’t help but laugh from the back of the garage.
After the race, Lewis laughed it off, admitting, “I just did a Jenson!”—referencing a similar mistake Jenson Button made in 2011. McLaren even got in on the fun, tweeting a cheeky invite: “Feel free to pop in and say ‘Hi’ any time!”
Despite the hilarious detour, Lewis still drove an incredible race to finish 3rd, securing his first-ever podium for the Silver Arrows. 🏆✨ Proof that even the GOAT has “Monday morning” moments sometimes!
