WISignature Aviation damaged my jet. The VP approved reimbursement. Their insurance adjuster told me to get it fixed — no conditions.
I paid $4,826.75 out of pocket.
Then Signature changed the deal.
Days later, they sent a confidentiality clause: “Hold this in STRICT CONFIDENCE. No disclosure to any third party.” Get paid OR stay quiet.
When their line service damaged my jet in June with the wrong technique and no training, I didn’t post. I offered to help. I proposed educating all of Signature’s FBOs so every pilot and aircraft owner in general aviation could benefit from better training standards. Signature said no.
I brought it to leadership directly. On a later flight, the damage was so severe I couldn’t see traffic. ATC called converging Southwest Airlines traffic. I couldn’t see outside. My wife’s eyes were wide open.
Signature’s own internal email confirmed a training gap contributed to the incident. Leadership told me they’d cover the repair. No mention of signing anything. No conditions. I proceeded.
When I asked for reimbursement, Signature sent a release with a confidentiality clause.
I escalated privately to leadership, then to Tony Lefebvre, Signature’s CEO — the guy who just won the Living Legends of Aviation award for building “accountability, connection, and performance.”
Tony didn’t respond. But a couple days after my letter, Signature sent a 10-day deadline: Sign the confidentiality release or the reimbursement offer goes away.
That’s when I realized upper management had chosen the insurance playbook. Damage something. Admit it. Approve the fix. Then when the bill comes due, add a silencing clause and make the pilot choose between their money and their voice.
I’m leaving $4,826.75 on the table because I’d rather help general aviation than be silenced by Signature.
