Your cycle is regulated by energy availability, not what someone else eats on a random day 👀
🧠 Your brain (hypothalamus) keeps the score... it’s making a calculated response to:
- total energy intake
- activity (steps + training)
- stress load
- your body’s history (dieting, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight changes)
If those signals don’t add up to “enough,” it suppresses ovulation, and shutting down your menstruation (Hypothalamic Amenorrhea) 🪫
So yes, someone else might eat way less, but they probably also:
- train less (even if it doesn’t look like it)
- have a different body composition
- have no history of restriction
- or simply have a lower threshold for maintaining a cycle
👉This is why comparison keeps you stuck, because it makes you question whether you’re “doing too much” when in reality, your body likely still isn’t getting enough consistent energy relative to output.
Recovery should not be about matching someone else’s intake.
