This piece kicks off my spring series, a growing collection of artisan silk scarves built around floral motifs. This season, I’m exploring what could become the it color trending for spring 2026…a soft yet vibrant pink and green palette translated through silk marbling techniques.
One of my favorite parts of the season is seeing rows of tulips in the garden with their rhythm of color. Reimagining those moments as wearable art is both a challenge and a fascination.
Marbling turns that idea into a kind of problem solving process. Instead of pencil or brush, I’m working with water, pigment, and motion. It’s a different language of making, where each one-of-a-kind silk accessory emerges through experimentation and control, capturing the essence of spring in motion.

THThe most satisfying pattern I’ve made yet. Watch a rainbow gradient transform into intricate loops of repeating colors as I transfer the design onto a hand-dyed marbled silk scarf.
Using traditional marbling techniques, I float acrylic paint on a carrageenan bath and shape the design through a series of precise combing motions. This particular pattern is known as the peacock an iconic motif in artisan textiles. A rainbow peacock?! Yes please!
I capture that fleeting moment by applying the painted design directly onto silk, preserving the movement and rhythmic pattern. One of the most beautiful aspects of silk marbling is that no two pieces can ever be the same. Every scarf is a one-of-a-kind silk accessory, carefully created by hand and made as a piece of wearable art.
One of my favorite things about hand-dyed silk is the freedom to explore any color palette and translate it into a luxury silk scarf. Marbling itself has a rich history dating back over a thousand years, with roots in regions such as Japan (suminagashi) and later Turkey and Persia (ebru). Originally used to decorate paper for book arts and calligraphy, the practice evolved into a highly respected art form centered on fluid motion, pattern, and control. Today, that same tradition lives on in modern marbled silk scarves, where centuries-old techniques meet contemporary design.
