NA*COLIN FARRELL* today I attended a Q+A for The Batman series spin-off: The Penguin coming to MAX next week. I’ve seen it, and can’t share thoughts yet but wanted to share my love for this insanely talented man Colin Farrell who plays Oz Cobblepot aka 🐧. Colin is one of my all time favorite interviews because he has the ability to go deep so quickly (I also think Irish people overall are the greatest conversationalists on the planet, so melancholic and introspective). Colin completely transforms into Oz - so much so that after almost 3 hours of hair and makeup everyday on set, he would go home after a long day, take it all off for 45 minutes and watch pixar movies like finding nemo to separate himself from the character. He admitted today that he doesn’t like watching himself back in projects he works on because his own presence ruins it for him. For example, even though he was OSCAR NOMINATED for the Banshees of Inisherin, he shared he was “doused in insecurity” when he left a screening of it calling his sister saying he hopes he has work lined up because he thought it was his worst performance. He doesn’t even know or get how good he is (actually though) which is why he’s the best. Thanks to the hair and makeup in Penguin, this series was only “80% ruined for him” as he watched it back he joked sarcastically. Deirdre O’ Connell who plays his mom in the series, described Colin and his energy as a Lightning Rod ⚡️ she said he had such an appetite - she wanted to touch it to feel it a little - she felt the magic maybe “everyone he works with feels” and that’s just a small descriptor of how Colin makes me and everyone he comes in contact feel. The Penguin airs on MAX on 9/19 and it’ll go for 8 episodes - don’t miss it! (The fact that we get a live action HBO/ MAX series on a Batman character is truly such a gift!!!) #thebatman #thepenguin #colinfarrell
