Half Fast & Furious lived and breathed pure automotive adrenaline: early entries were all about cars—the rumble of drag raced imports, neon-lit street meets, turbocharged Hondas and American muscle modified with “stance,” NOS, and low slung spoilers, steeped in L.A. car culture and racing community energy. But as the series progressed, it drifted, transforming into increasingly elaborate spectacle, with far fetched action sequences, global villainous conspiracies, cars flying off cliffs, sky high explosions, and physics defying heroics that felt almost fantastical rather than grounded in real street racing.
Now Vin Diesel has made it clear that for the final Fast & Furious, slated for April 2027, he insisted on three non negotiable conditions: to bring the franchise back to Los Angeles, to return to the roots of car and street racing culture, and to reunite Dom with Brian O’Conner.
In Diesel’s own words, the finale is set to “bring it back to racing and back to L.A.”
