TH**Firefighter Survival training**
Today along with @paterson_rescue and Squad 6, Ladder 3 tour 2 trained in firefighter survival evolutions. Members practiced reduced profile and swim techniques when breaching a wall stud/going through tight spaces.
Members also did a search rope evolution while blacked out to locate a missing, unconscious firefighter. Members then had to secure an air supply with an @scottsafety RIT pack, convert an SCBA into a harness, and remove the firefighter using an @andersonrescuesolutions strap to help drag the firefighter as well as secure the RIT bag to the firefighter for the drag.
While it’s all about the public and keeping them safe, it is also important to make sure we keep our skills sharp should we ever be the ones needing rescuing.

NMMAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY MONTH 👨🏻🚒‼️
This month at work we are kicking off a multi-month initiative on survival and rapid intervention that will cumulate in a major multi unit drill this fall.
For each of the 10 shifts that our members work this month....
📻 Each morning, each member has to transmit a MAYDAY. Another member will give them circumstances ("you are E6 nozzle, you just lost water on the 2nd floor"). The member then has to immediately transmit a MAYDAY with this info (no prep time). It must be done on air, and over a real radio channel.
🔥 For each of the 10 shifts, we have assigned a LODD that we felt had application or significance to our area or operations. The members will review the LODD reports from the incident and will then conduct a drill of their choice relating to the circumstances that resulted in the LODD/MAYDAY. The events that we chose were:
1. Salisbury Millworks Fire
2. Charleston 9
3. Black Sunday
4. 750 Adams Av Memphis TN
5. Worcester Cold storage
6. Southwest Supermarket Fire Phoenix
7. Jeff Bowen - Ashville NC
8. Harrisburg NC - Josh Early
9. Ford dealership fire Hackensack NJ
10. Bridgeport CT
When was the last time you called a MAYDAY? With surprise information? Over the radio?
Remember the fallen, learn the lessons, and keep your skills sharp. You never know - "tonight may be the night..."

During this preseason, we've added two tools to our technical and even physical preparation, such as the ski carpet (Ski Sin Limites Madrid) and the roller skis (monopode)🛼
We consider that they are two great tools that, well used , allow us to save a lot of time in the technical area. Furthermore, in the case of Roller skis, they can be used anywhere and anytime of the year! 💥
