SNI’ve been feeling generally demotivated to train lately, since I’m still working my way around a mysterious rib pain. My partner somehow managed to drag me to the gym to walk on the treadmill - something that feels gentle enough on my body right now. As I was walking, I couldn’t help but think about what a big influence he’s had on my relationship with exercise.
I came from a hardcore, group-competitive training background, and to this day, working out on my own feels like an ordeal because it doesn’t give me the same high that competing or training with others does (which isn’t necessarily the best thing). Naturally, during the lockdown, I hated working out. But we would end up on our terrace every single evening, training, while watching the sunset colors come and go - all because he would get me to do it. Between the two of us, he’s definitely the one more obsessed with staying fit and healthy, and that really helps.
To those who are more disciplined: be accountability partners to your friends and family. And to those who aren’t: surround yourself with the right ones ❤️
