CSTony Hinchcliffe, a comedian and host of the โKill Tonyโ podcast, called Puerto Rico a โfloating island of garbageโ and made a slew of off-color jokes while performing at former President Trumpโs rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday.
โThereโs a lot going on. I donโt know if you know this, but thereโs literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think itโs called Puerto Rico,โ Mr. Hinchcliffe said of the U.S. territory.
The comment drew rebukes from several Republican members of Congress, including Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) and Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL).
The Trump campaign also distanced the former president from the remark.
โThis joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign,โ Danielle Alvarez, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, said in a statement.
