The adorable Japanese Dwarf Flying Squirrel is often considered one of the cutest animals in the world, and it’s easy to see why. With its round eyes, tiny nose, and fluffy body, this small nocturnal mammal looks almost like a living stuffed toy. Native to the forests of Japan, these squirrels are specially adapted for life in the trees. They have a loose flap of skin called a patagium that stretches between their limbs. When they leap from a tree, this membrane spreads out like a parachute, allowing them to glide through the air for distances of up to 100 meters (about 330 feet). Despite the name “flying squirrel,” they don’t actually fly. Instead, they glide gracefully from tree to tree, using their tail for balance and steering. This helps them travel through the forest canopy while avoiding predators on the ground. Japanese dwarf flying squirrels are also nocturnal, meaning they are most active at night, when they search for food such as seeds, fruits, bark, and buds. Follow @animalclipsexplained for more!

You are looking at one of the cutest animals on Earth. The Japanese dwarf flying squirrel looks like a real life Pokémon, with its big round eyes, soft fur, and fluffy tail that seems almost unreal. Native to the forests of Honshu and Kyushu in Japan, this tiny creature has become famous online for looking more like a cartoon than a wild animal. Despite the name, it doesn't actually fly. It glides between trees using a stretchy membrane called a patagium that connects its arms and legs. This allows it to float gracefully from branch to branch while staying high above the forest . Nocturnal and shy, it spends its nights searching for leaves, seeds, and bark, rarely seen during the day. When it out mid glide, its shape looks so perfect that it feels almost magical. #nature #fyp #wildlife #trendingreels
