TASix months ago today I watched you walk out to a crowd of thousands of students with the biggest and most genuine smile on your face.
You were in your element. On campus. Exactly where God called you to be.
And then in an instant, I watched as it was all taken away.
Your parents lost their son. Erika lost her husband. Your kids lost their father. The world lost an American hero. And I lost the most incredible leader I’ve ever known.
The world may measure a life by titles or accomplishments, but the people who knew you measure it differently. We measure it by the courage you instilled in us. The standard you refused to lower. The faith you lived out every single day.
You didn’t just build an organization. You built people.
You raised up a generation of leaders who now carry pieces of the mission you poured your life into.
Six months later, the grief is still real. But so is the responsibility. And that responsibility is simple.
To keep going. To keep fighting for truth. To keep building what you started.
Because the best way to honor a life like yours isn’t just to remember it. It’s to continue it.
