❤️‍🩹 Last week, we saw a post circulating about a dog tied up in Ridgewood and left abandoned. The dog was a white Pit Bull, and she looked utterly defeated. Jennifer Brooks, the founder and president of NYC Second Chance Rescue, heard about the abandoned female pit and rerouted to the scene to rescue her. Arriving just as Animal Control Officers were securing the terrified dog, Jennifer stepped in, shielding the dog from passersby and speaking reassuring words to let her know she was safe.🙏 The white pitty was visibly stressed out, having just been abandoned and now surrounded by unfamiliar faces. Animal Control got her safely in their van, and Jennifer informed the officer that NYCSCR would be taking over her rescue once she had a chance to decompress and arrangements for suitable placement were in place. We have named her Marla, and she is officially a part of the Second Chance Rescue family. Now, we need our community to help us with the next part: Marla needs an immediate foster home. We do not yet have a reliable dog or cat test, so a home without pets or children under 10 may be ideal to ensure Marla can fully decompress. Jennifer and Tayef, our Director of Operations, took Marla on her freedom ride, and while she was nervous at first, she warmed up quickly, revealing her sweet personality. Little did I know this was only the beginning of your journey to finally rest in peace and go to your forever home in Heaven. 🥺🤍🌈 You impacted so many lives. You showed us the power of a community coming together, and how much can be achieved when love and care are involved. In less than 24 hours, so many people came together for you. People who had never even met you donated to your care. In just 16 hours, Cheecho, $17,000 was raised for you, my boy. 🥹 This was love. This was people fighting for you when you needed it most. For so long, you were the longest resident. A dog who was almost invisible to the world. But not anymore. Now, you are seen, Cheecho. Everyone knows your name. You are not a shelter dog, you are an inspiration and you came to show us what love can do… You came to show us that every life matters. You came to show us what we can do together. I dedicate this video to @mjzoino !! She is an amazing volunteer at Cobb County and she had a really special connection with Saint!! ❤️🥹 We watched Saint struggle at the shelter, simply for being a black dog. He was just a bigger puppy, loving, sweet, good with kids, good with dogs, but still no one would ever choose him to go home!! Until May 10th, when everything changed!! May 10th was the day someone chose Saint!! It will be forever be his GOTCHA DAY 🎊❤️!!! This lovely couple watched Saint’s video, they immediately went to the shelter and took him home!!! 🚨 Hay and feed needed for 4 horses that need rescue! I drove by a starving horse in someone’s yard and stopped by to see how I could help. No one answered the door so I made hard some calls and the sheriff and animal control came out the next day. Turns out an elderly woman is in the hospital and her husband has Alzheimer’s and 1 leg so he’s unable to take care of their horses. Their family stop by and they were given one month to figure out what to do with the horses before they’re seized. The reality is that If all of these horses will be taken to the auction and kill pen in this bad of shape. The white horse is in the most need and could collapse and pass away if we don’t get her on a strict feed and deworming schedule now. She’s currently eating from a stale bale hay. 😢 This is extremely dangerous for any horse yet alone a sick emaciated horse. This is not my first time rescuing a horse this sick and I’m confident that with the right resources and time that we can give this horse a chance to thrive as early as tomorrow but we have to act fast. The owners have already agreed to surrender this horse to us but we need to arrange everything in order to rescue her.🙏🏽Our goal is to get this horse to the vet ASAP and the sherif has agreed to work with us to get the horses moved. We are asking everyone reading this to join us on this horse rescue by donating funds for a bales of hay, the white horses vet bill, food and more so that we can so stock up and feed all the horses left behind until we find a horse rescue to take the remaining 3 horses before it’s too late. He had been at the shelter since August, waiting for someone to see him… and even after all those months, no one ever asked to meet him. Then one video changed everything. Gina, @gapjax a volunteer with a heart of gold, didn’t hesitate for a second. She drove two and a half hours to take him to the woman who already loved him before she ever met him. And thank you to @susanyoung27, our volunteer coordinator at the shelter for coordinating every step so beautifully to make sure he got to his new Mama! His new mom told us she couldn’t even sleep the night before because she was so anxious and excited for him to arrive. The moment she saw him, she knew he was meant to be hers. Beau is only one year old and was placed on the urgent list. But the first night with his new mom, he fell asleep on her chest like he never wanted to let go. Like he finally felt safe. Like he understood she saved his life. Beau is home. And he knows it. 🚨LIVE Rescue and Freedom Ride! 🙌 Here is the full rescue without all the music typically required to be seen in the algorithm. 😩🙄 This is so sad. 😩😭 Imagine not knowing you’d have the last car ride with your dog and your dog survives the crash without you. 😭 During my drive, I got stopped by a detour as cars were being turned around after a really bad car accident. I noticed this tiny dog with blood on his face that seemed to be confused. It looks as though the dog survived the crash but no one had came to take the dog. I asked the officer and he said they couldn’t take him and couldn’t give me information on the accident so I gave them my info and posted on Pawboost in case relatives look for him. I’ve been comforting and mourning with this dog on our way to the sanctuary. I’m now wrapping up chores so I can go to the ER tonight. It won’t be cheap to go to the vet after hours but my goal is to get him checked out and get pain meds so he can sleep comfortably because when I pick him up he cries sometimes. He’s so tiny and he’ll be by my side if anyone would like to follow his rescue. If anyone can help us get him seen tonight, I’ll be headed there in about an hour and I’ll be there all night because his injuries aren’t as severe as others. Quite literally. ‼️ Texas is in a CRISIS ‼️ Saving Sully is a Wisconsin based dog rescue dedicated to pulling dogs from overcrowded Texas shelters. They rescue dogs primarily on the euthan@sia lists and give them their freedom ride 🚐 from Texas to Wisconsin. They give them their life back. They are a foster based dog rescue who rely on the donations of the public to continue operating. Tagging dogs from the shelter can be costly for rescues. Spay & Neuter, Initial Veterinary Costs, Transport, not to mention any critical cases that may present themselves. For example, did you know a dog with heart worm costs about 1,000 dollars to treat? The reason rescues must fundraise is to help cover the costs to take care of the little lives they’ve committed to. Contrary to popular belief, adoption fees often do not cover the full cost of what a rescue invests into each and every dog. Which is where donations come in. By raising 20,000 dollars, WilsonHaus is helping Saving Sully bridge this gap for 100 dogs, as well as help care for some critical cases they just took in, like Jordan.
