QUQueers Can't Take A Joke is back in the 51st state at our DC home @asyouaredc!
In this course, students will:
⠀• learn the basics of stand-up including
⠀ ⠀⠀• why jokes work &
⠀ ⠀⠀• how to write them
⠀• gain confidence
⠀ ⠀⠀• using a microphone,
⠀ ⠀⠀• being onstage, &
⠀ ⠀⠀• speaking in public
⠀• write at least 5 minutes of original stand-up comedy
⠀• build community with other new LGBTQ+ comedians in the DC area
This course includes 5 group classes and at least one (optional) individual meeting with the instructor (Brooklyn comedian Charlie Girard) before ending in a show open to friends, family, and the general public at DC's as you are.
WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS?
This class is for everyone!
Whether you are interested in pursuing stand-up more seriously, want to improve your public speaking skills, or just want to learn a new skill, this class is for you!
Note that this class is intended for LGBTQ+ people who have never tried stand-up before or are beginners.
This class operates on a rotating basis in both New York City and DC.
SCHEDULE
Classes take place Saturdays at as you are:
Mar. 21 | Mar. 28 | Apr. 4* | Apr. 11 | Apr. 18
*class Ap. 4 will be on Zoom
Students have the option to sign up for either the morning or afternoon cohort:
☀️ Morning: 10am - 1pm (showcase Fri., Apr. 24)
🌙 Afternoon: 1:30 - 4:30pm (showcase Sat., Apr. 25)
COST
Cost per student is $300 with the option to pay in installments through the end of the class.
A very limited amount of financial aid is available on a first come, first serve basis to those who are un/underemployed. Email charlie@queerjokeclass.com for more information.
