Patoleo / Sweet Dumplings #cookwithshrishti Part-04 The smell of turmeric leaves, the joy of jaggery, and the sound of festive songs... Yes, it’s Sao Joao, and nothing says Goan tradition better than a plate of freshly steamed Patoleo! 💚✨ In today’s Sao Joao Special of Cook with Shrishti, we’re bringing this monsoon delight to life — made with love, coconut, jaggery, and wrapped in nature’s own gift – turmeric leaves. 🌿🌧️ 🧾 Patoleo Recipe (Goan Sweet Steamed Delicacy) Ingredients: For the shell: 1 cup parboiled rice (soaked for 3–4 hours) or 1/2 cup Rice flour A pinch of salt A little water to grind 🥥 For the filling: 1 cup freshly grated coconut ¾ cup Goan jaggery (grated or crushed) ½ tsp cardamom powder A pinch of salt For wrapping: Fresh turmeric leaves (washed and wiped clean) 🔪 Method: Step 1: Prepare the Rice Paste Grind soaked parboiled rice into a smooth, thick paste using very little water. Or Use Rice flour Add a pinch of salt and keep aside. Step 2: Make the Filling Mix coconut, jaggery, cardamom, and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Lightly heat it if needed to melt the jaggery and blend everything well. Let it cool before stuffing. Step 3: Assemble the Patoleo Take a turmeric leaf, spread a thin layer of rice paste evenly across one side. Place a spoonful of the coconut-jaggery mixture in the center. Fold the leaf in half and press the sides gently. Step 4: Steam the Patoleo Place the prepared leaves in a steamer. Steam for about 15–20 minutes, or until the leaves change color and the rice paste is cooked. Step 5: Serve Once cooled slightly, gently open the leaf and enjoy the fragrant, sweet Patoleo! Traditionally enjoyed warm some even drizzle a little coconut milk or ghee on top. 🌼 So this Sao Joao, stay home, wear your kopel (flower crown), and bring the festive flavours into your kitchen! #SaoJoaoSpecial #GoanTradition #Patoleo #goarecipes #goancontentcreator #CookWithShrishti #MonsoonDelight #GoanFestivals #SteamedGoodness #GoaVibes
