JOThis video of my late mother always touches my heart.
Her wonderful long-term carer Pam captured the moment. My mother’s wistful look that then turns into a beaming smile as she listens to this reminiscent song of happy memories brought tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat.
It’s funny - I am always thinking about the present and the future, while mum always tended to think about the past. She did so MOSTLY not in a sad way, but simply happy to remember.
The song, by the way, is called “Golden Days” by Mario Lanza, one of mother’s favourite singers. The lyrics, which seemed to fit mother’s mood perfectly, are:
