The Power of Every Word • During the 2023 commencement ceremony at Boise State University, a graduating student delivered a clever and profound speech that has since resonated with millions online. By breaking down the letter counts of opposing words, he illustrated a simple yet powerful truth: life is full of choices between light and dark. He pointed out that while “Hate” has four letters, so does “Love.” “Enemies” has seven, but so does “Friends.” This linguistic comparison serves as a reminder that for every negative force in our lives, there is a positive counterpart of equal weight, waiting for us to choose it. The core message of this speech is that we always have a choice in how we frame our reality. Whether it is choosing “Positivity” over “Negativity” or “Success” over “Failure,” the speaker emphasizes that our journey is defined by which side we decide to focus on. By highlighting that both the struggle and the triumph often occupy the same space in our language and lives, he encourages his peers to intentionally lean toward the better side. It is a timeless lesson in mindset, proving that even in the face of adversity, the power to change our narrative lies within the choices we make every single day. • @boisestateuniversity • • #fyp #graduation #boisestate #perspective #words

Graduation ceremonies in the modern sense started taking shape in medieval Europe, when the earliest universities (like Bologna, Paris, and Oxford) began formally awarding degrees in the 1100s–1200s, often with public rituals, robes, and Latin speeches to mark a scholar’s new status. The tradition evolved over centuries as academic dress became standardized and schools turned commencement into a bigger community event, especially in the 1800s–1900s as public education and large universities expanded, leading to the cap-and-gown ceremonies most people recognize today. Watching this back and seeing my entire demeanor was one of the most validating experiences in my trauma healing. My mom denies all of this. This is the morning of my high school graduation. Looking at this, most people see a “difficult” teenager being rude to her mom. What the camera does not capture was that she woke me up early that morning (on my graduation day) to tell me about my dad’s affairs. She chose that specific moment to dump years of trauma on me, then sat back calmly while I lost my mind. My mother was physically, emotionally and verbally abusive. There were belts, hangars and being locked in closets for hours. But the manipulation was the worst. That’s how Emotional Hoovering works. They drop an emotional bomb, wait for you to explode and then make you the villain for having a reaction. My “theatrics” my “sensitivities” were just a neurodivergent kid trying to survive a house on fire. What’s happening OFF camera is the verbal and physical threats, the shaming and the totally lack of awareness of myself as a sensitive being. The facade was over, but the CPTSD was just beginning. It’s wild how easy it is to film a “happy “ memory or a “happy” child while someone is actively being destroyed behind the scenes. Remember, she had been training me for over a decade at this point on how to perform on camera. I was done. She gave me news that broke my already broken world then hit record and expected me to smile for the graduation photos. If you grew up being the emotional trash can for your parents, you know the energy in this video. It’s not just an attitude - it’s an entire nervous system that has nowhere left to go. I thought I was finally free this day. I didn’t realize how long it would take to actually get the weight off my shoulders. *These videos are part of an ongoing memoir project and narrative healing journey I am going on within my own therapy journey. They are not up for analysis, debate or criticism. For more context please see my CPTSD story highly and/or subscribe to my Substack as a put more of the pieces together at a pace that feels good for me. That high-energy, toothy grin on graduation day isn’t just about the diploma; it’s a massive Dopamine Victory Lap. For a young boy, graduation represents the first major completion of a Long-Term Goal Circuit. His brain has spent years navigating the “work-play” balance, and this ceremony is the ultimate biological “reward signal” that tells his nervous system: “Mission Accomplished.” From a neurological perspective, this excitement is fueled by Anticipatory Joy. As he puts on that cap and gown, his brain is performing a high-speed “Identity Update.” He is no longer just a “student”; he is a “graduate.” This shift triggers the release of Endorphins, which can lead to the “zoomies” or that irresistible urge to throw his cap in the air. He’s experiencing a literal “high” from the social validation of his “tribe” (parents and teachers) cheering for his individual effort. [Image showing the link between milestone celebrations and future academic persistence] Physiologically, this milestone acts as a Confidence Anchor. By celebrating this “win,” his brain is hard-wiring the belief that effort leads to success. This isn’t just a ceremony with a piece of paper; it’s the construction of his Academic Self-Concept. He’s not just excited to be done with school—he’s excited to see what else he’s capable of conquering! #explorepage #viralvideos

Via @nila.v Achieving a degree is a monumental milestone, but for many first-generation graduates, that diploma belongs to the entire family. In this moving display of gratitude, a daughter honors the woman who made her education possible by placing her graduation robe onto her mother’s shoulders. It is a powerful acknowledgment of the sacrifices made behind the scenes—the long hours and unwavering support that often go unrecognized during the ceremony. 🎓✨ This gesture transforms a personal victory into a shared legacy of resilience and love. By passing the gown, she symbolically credits her success to her roots, proving that while one person walks across the stage, a whole village carries them there. It serves as a beautiful reminder that our greatest achievements are rarely ours alone, but a tribute to those who dreamt of a better future for us. ❤️🙏

The advice I need every year. Ferris Bueller, a charismatic high school senior and master of manipulation, decides to fake an illness to skip school one last time before graduation. Determined to make it an "epic" day, he convinces his anxious, hypochondriac best friend Cameron and his girlfriend Sloane to join him. Together, they "borrow" a prized vintage Ferrari and head into downtown Chicago for a day of high-stakes fun, visiting art museums, luxury restaurants, and even joining a city-wide parade. While Ferris enjoys his ultimate day of freedom, he must stay one step ahead of his suspicious sister and his obsessed high school principal, Ed Rooney, who has made it his personal mission to catch Ferris in the act. The film is a lighthearted celebration of youth, rebellion, and the importance of stopping to "look around once in a while." #ferrisbueller #motivational #fyp #explore #movies Follow: @goodmovie_greatmovie for daily movie🍿content.

A man is shown wearing his graduation cap and gown shortly after his graduation ceremony. Instead of celebrating with friends or family, he goes to a cemetery. He walks to his mother’s grave and stands in front of it. While standing there, he speaks to her and tells her that he graduated that day. He also tells her that he knows she would be proud and that he loves her. The video focuses on this moment as he talks to her at the gravesite, showing how the milestone is shared with his mother even though she has passed away.
