Lessons in luxury - the official home of the French language is the Institut de France, which decides on all the French language, words, and grammar rules, and even publishes the main dictionaries. Do we have an organisation like this as the official authority of the English language? If you know, tell me in the comments?

Comment "GABY" and we’ll send you a free story + song + audiobook for kids learning Spanish 🎁 I remember when I first started raising my daughter in Spanish. And then I remembered how I was first taught Spanish: worksheets, vocabulary lists and grammar rules. I studied my life away, got good grades and never learned Spanish. That's why I wanted her to learn differently. With my Bellieu Method - where kids actually get fluent. And I wanted to share it with others. Kids don’t learn a language with monthly kits, with apps, or by just singing songs. They have to connect real words with real situations in context. Through stories, songs and speaking. Speaking is the magic part of our Bellieu Method. There’s research on this too — kids’ brains are wired to acquire language when it’s meaningful, interactive, and emotionally engaging. Not when it’s forced, or random sentences out of context in an app. That’s why you’ll see so many kids in traditional Spanish programs who “know” vocabulary but can’t string a sentence together. I’ve watched hundreds of kids in our Spanish classes using The Bellieu Method. At first, they’re often quiet, observing. And moms start to worry: “Are they even learning?” Here’s the thing — they are. They’re absorbing everything. And then one day… it clicks. They start asking questions, making full sentences, telling little stories. So if your child isn’t speaking Spanish yet, don’t panic. Don’t over-focus on memorization. Give them consistent, playful exposure. Let them interact, make mistakes, laugh, and use the language in real ways. That’s how they actually become fluent — not from worksheets, flashcards, or even perfect grammar. _____ Hi all — I’m Micah, founder of TFK Spanish for Kids, a 20+ year language teacher who once flunked college Spanish (true story!), and a lifelong language acquisition researcher focused on what really leads to lifelong fluency. I’m also the mom of a trilingual daughter, love traveling and speaking new languages, and my favorite part of my work is helping families create realistic plans for fluency. Oh — and our “foreign” language at home is Japanese!

Reading grammar rules doesn't make them feel natural when you speak. Saying them out loud does. Eight present perfect sentences. Each one covers a slightly different structure. I have never done that before. She has already left. Have you eaten today? I haven't finished yet. We have been friends for years. He has just arrived. I have made that mistake before. Have you ever been to London? Say each one out loud after me. All eight. If one felt harder, that's the one to go back to. Say it five more times until it stops feeling strange. Which sentence was hardest? Write it in the comments. 👇
