Ik zie de droge huidzalf van drs. Leenarts vaak voorbij komen. Weinig ingrediënten, geen parfum, dat klinkt meteen als een bewuste keuze. Maar de basis van deze zalf is petrolatum (vaseline)! Petrolatum legt een afsluitende laag op de huid. Daardoor voelt de huid snel zachter, maar het voedt of herstelt de huid niet. Het pakt vooral het symptoom aan, niet de oorzaak. Je huid wordt afhankelijk van afsluiten, in plaats van sterker te worden. Daarnaast is petrolatum synthetisch, niet biologisch afbreekbaar en milieubelastend. Van het winnen van de grondstoffen tot het afval dat achterblijft. Dat is ook waarom dit ingrediënt laag scoort in ingredient-analyses. Voor mij betekent low-tox niet alleen een korte ingrediëntenlijst, maar vooral: ondersteunt dit mijn huid écht of maskeert het alleen?
