The Hawthorne Effect describes how people tend to change their behavior when they know they are being observed. This phenomenon was first discovered during productivity studies conducted at the Hawthorne Works factory in the 1920s. Researchers noticed that workers increased their performance not necessarily because of changes in working conditions, but simply because they were aware that someone was studying their behavior. When people feel watched, their brain becomes more alert and self-aware, often leading them to work harder, behave more carefully, or try to appear more productive. This psychological effect appears in many areas of life, including workplaces, schools, sports, and even social media. It shows how powerful awareness and observation can be in influencing human behavior. #psychologyfacts #humanmind #humanbehavior #psychologydaily #hawthorneeffect

Ever considered human needs through the lens of a chemical dependency? Behaviour expert Chase Hughes lays out a fascinating framework: every unmet need is essentially a craving for a specific neurochemical release. Complimenting someone on that deep-seated need isn't just kindness; it's triggering an avalanche of positive neurotransmitters! It reveals a profound truth: we're all chasing our own unique substance. The ultimate game-changer is pinpointing exactly what drug each person is addicted to. Mind blown by this insight from the top minds in behavioural intelligence. 🤯 #BehaviorScience #Neuroscience #HumanBehavior #PsychologyFacts #ChaseHughes

Just knowing this has changed how I live forever. This research has so many implications. Why we perform bad when we think while engaging in any kind of performance - motor or verbal. Why overthinking in bed leads to inability to sleep. I am sure most of y’all know this intuitively but knowing exactly what is bad for you helps a lot.

This will be one of many videos to come, so if you have any questions about it, feel free to ask. Or if you just want to give me an encouraging nudge, that’ll work too. Just finished reading a 1920 article by Edward Thorndike and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. It was published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, A Constant Error in Psychological Ratings, and the whole premise is that we don’t actually evaluate people the way we think we do. We form one general impression, and that impression quietly shapes every other judgment we make about that person. Thorndike called it the Halo Effect. One trait creates a glow. And without realising it, that glow covers everything else. The part that stuck with me most is that it works in reverse too. One unfavourable impression and suddenly every other trait gets read through that same lens. He wrote this over a hundred years ago. The pattern hasn’t changed.
