This visualization takes you deep inside a human cell at 10,000x magnification to witness the Golgi’s complex shipping and receiving process. While the video mentions "in our DNA," the Golgi actually works closely with the Endoplasmic Reticulum to process proteins and lipids: Receiving: Proteins arrive from the cell's "factory" (the ER). Packaging: The Golgi modifies these proteins, often adding sugar molecules, and sorts them for their final destination. Shipping: These items are then packed into tiny bubbles called vesicles and dispatched to exactly where they are needed—whether that's elsewhere in the cell or outside of it entirely. Scientists just found a way to remove 90% of microplastics from drinking water in under 30 minutes. We’re all aware now of how contaminated our water is. Microplastics are in tap water, bottled water, literally everywhere. And since your body is more than 60% water, knowing how to filter it isn’t optional anymore, it’s essential. In this new 2025 study, researchers discovered that two everyday foods, okra and fenugreek, can remove microplastics more effectively than the synthetic chemicals used in wastewater-treatment plants. These plant-based gels grab onto microplastics, clump them together, and pull them out of the water. In lab tests: • Okra removed 67% of microplastics • Fenugreek removed 93% • And a 1:1 combination reached 90% in just 30 minutes And here’s the crazy part. These natural extracts outperformed polyacrylamide, the synthetic polymer currently used in wastewater treatment, and they’re completely non-toxic.
