ANIf your hair feels dry after straightening, it’s not the tool.
It’s what you did (or didn’t do) before.
Here’s my exact routine:
• I oil my ends before wash day.
The ends are the oldest part of your hair — protect them first.
• Deep conditioner every wash.
Mask 1–2x a week.
Hydrated hair handles heat better. Period.
• I gently brush through tangles before straightening.
Never run a straightener through knots. That’s how you snap strands.
• Hair must be 100% dry.
Not “almost.” Not “a little damp.”
• Heat protectant is non-negotiable.
And yes — I still use a lightweight oil on my ends after.
Heat protectant protects from heat.
Oil seals and smooths. They do different jobs.
• One slow, controlled pass per section.
The more you go over the same piece, the more damage you create.
Straight hair should feel silky — not crunchy.
Healthy hair isn’t about avoiding heat.
It’s about strengthening, protecting, and being intentional.
