If your hair feels dry after straightening, it’s not the tool. It’s what you did (or didn’t do) before. Here’s my exact routine: • I oil my ends before wash day. The ends are the oldest part of your hair — protect them first. • Deep conditioner every wash. Mask 1–2x a week. Hydrated hair handles heat better. Period. • I gently brush through tangles before straightening. Never run a straightener through knots. That’s how you snap strands. • Hair must be 100% dry. Not “almost.” Not “a little damp.” • Heat protectant is non-negotiable. And yes — I still use a lightweight oil on my ends after. Heat protectant protects from heat. Oil seals and smooths. They do different jobs. • One slow, controlled pass per section. The more you go over the same piece, the more damage you create. Straight hair should feel silky — not crunchy. Healthy hair isn’t about avoiding heat. It’s about strengthening, protecting, and being intentional. Glossy. Smooth. No split ends. Save this if you’re done frying your hair for a sleek look 🤍✨ hair products used: @olaplex @k18hair @gisou #healthyhair #haircaretips #hairroutine #hairgoals #straighthair

Bleached blonde hair needs extra care because the lightening process weakens the hair structure. Use a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo to avoid stripping moisture. Incorporate a purple shampoo 1–2 times per week to reduce brassiness, but don’t overuse it — it can dry hair out. Deep condition weekly to restore hydration and strengthen strands. A bond-building treatment can help support damaged hair fibers. Always use a heat protectant before styling, and keep tools at moderate temperatures. Limit heat styling whenever possible. What not to do: Don’t wash with very hot water — it increases dryness. Avoid frequent bleaching touch-ups. Don’t brush aggressively when wet, and skip tight hairstyles that cause breakage. Bleached hair is more fragile, so gentle handling is key. Consistent moisture, protein balance, and low stress help keep blonde hair looking healthy. Save this as your blonde-care guide. DO THIS DURING WASHING AND YOUR HAIR WILL BE TRANSFORMED Comb your dry hair before wetting it to prevent breakage. Start with lukewarm water and finish with a blast of cold water to seal the cuticles, add shine, and control oiliness. Apply shampoo to the palm of your hand, spread it, and concentrate the gentle massage on the scalp (roots), using your fingertips. The lather that runs down will wash the length of your hair. Rinse all the shampoo completely. Residues weigh down the hair and can cause problems. Apply conditioner to the lengths and ends, avoiding the roots to prevent clogging the pores. Leave it on for the indicated time. Rinse very well to remove all product, ensuring softness and shine. Gently squeeze with a towel (without rubbing) to remove excess water. If using a hairdryer, keep a distance (10-15cm) and use a heat protectant. #washing #haircare #hair #hairroutine

One year ago my routine was long, expensive, and for the average non influencer, exhausting and unrealistic. I was convinced I needed 15 different steps for my hair to look healthy. Then I cut it all down and realized nothing changed. My hair still looks just as glossy, just as strong, just as soft. That alone told me everything I needed to know. I never needed a million steps. My hair didn’t go from “before & after” because I had hours to dedicate to it. I’m a mom. I’m busy. I don’t have time for a 47 step routine. What actually made a difference was focusing on two things: keeping my scalp clean and protecting my ends. That’s literally it. This video is the post wash part of my routine. Leave in. Oil. Heat protectant. Blow dry. Done. It’s fast, affordable, and it works even on hair that gets weighed down easily like mine!! And honestly if you have curly or wavy hair, this routine would probably work even better for you. You just adjust the amounts to whatever your hair can handle. #haircare #haircareroutine #healthyhair #hairtransformation

Heat damage is simply defined as: damage to the hair caused by excessive use, or misuse, of thermal heat tools including flat irons, curling irons, and blow dryers. But did you know that heat damage is 100% avoidable? When regulated correctly, heat can be used safely on natural hair. No matter if you use a blow dryer or flat iron be mindful of: 👉🏾 The current condition of the hair 👉🏾 Proper temperature control 👉🏾 Use of heat protectants (EVERY. TIME.) 👉🏾 Your technique These factors are essential to preserving moisture and the strength of the hair. Also, excessive passes, frequent flat ironing and skipping heat protectant will often result in heat damage. If you want to avoid heat damage for your next silk press, book your next appointment today. It will likely last longer than at-home attempts 🙃 #dmvsilkpress #haireducation #dmvnaturalstylist #mdnaturalhairstylist #mdsilkpress

Have you straightened your hair and wondered why it was still kind of frizzy, even though you did all the steps? It might be your heat protectant. I recently had this experience with a water-based heat protectant and here’s the conclusion I came to after using both water and oil heat protectants recently: Water: •Made it a more difficult to use my thermal brush because my hair kept catching on the bristles. •Hair seemed dryer than it should have when I finished straightening. Oil: •My hair didn’t catch on the bristles at all and I could see and feel a much smoother finish. •I instantly had that “settled/calmed down” feel to my hair when I finished straightening. Iykyk I think I’ll keep the water-based protectants for blow drying only because I’m just wasting my time with it when straightening. Right now, I’m loving the heat protectant from @nexxushaircare . AND it’s currently on sale! Link in bio if you need it. 😘

Easy wavy hair routine for quick styling and fast drying. This has been such a simple, go-to routine for me. It takes me minutes to style and, with a lightweight styler, my hair dries so fast (win-win!) 💡TIP: when brushing foam or mousse into my hair, I start from my mid-lengths to ends. Then I work my way up toward the root. This helps me avoid too much product at the root, which will take away my volume. Most damage doesn’t happen overnight — it’s daily habits adding up. Start by washing your scalp, not your hair length. The scalp needs cleansing; the ends just need gentle rinsing. Overwashing strips natural oils, but underwashing causes buildup — find your balance. Never brush soaking wet hair aggressively. Use a wide-tooth comb and start from the ends, working upward. Apply conditioner mainly to mid-lengths and ends, not directly on the scalp. Heat styling? Always use a heat protectant and lower the temperature. High heat repeatedly weakens protein bonds in the hair shaft. And don’t sleep on rough cotton pillowcases — switch to satin or silk to reduce friction and breakage. Nutrition matters too. Protein, iron, omega-3s, and proper hydration directly impact hair strength and growth. Healthy hair isn’t about expensive products. It’s about consistent, gentle care. 🌿✨

Let’s talk about how to actually prevent damage when using heat tools. Going straight in with hot tools while your hair is still damp can steam-fry your strands. The rapid heat creates internal pressure that blisters the cuticle and weakens the hair shaft over time. Always use a heat protectant; it forms a barrier that slows how fast your hair heats up and helps reduce protein loss. Let it fully dry before styling; if it’s still damp, you risk the same steam damage you’re trying to avoid. Aerosol formulas are great because they dry quickly and coat evenly. Keep your tools around or below 350°F (180°C) to avoid keratin denaturation and breakage. Healthy, smooth hair starts with prevention not repair. #spillingtheteawithmd
