ANHere’s my homemade dog food recipe! 🐶🐾🦴🥘 Ingredients: (This makes about 3.8kgs)
Ingredients:
-2T coconut oil
-1.2kg of chicken or turkey mince
-300g chicken livers
-7.5 ounces of pumpkin puree
-2 sweet potatoes
-1 1/2C brown rice or white rice
-7oz of frozen spinach
-4 carrots chopped
-12oz green beans
-12oz peas
-4C water
-5t of calcium (I use cooked eggshells)
Brown the meat in coconut oil, then add all of the ingredients to the slow cooker and cook on high for 4-6 hours. I weigh mine out into 275g bags and freeze. Makes enough to feed my 4 Maltese dogs twice a day for 1 week. MYHere’s my second attempt of making dog food for @mypitbullcooper. I boiled a whole chicken, shredded it, removed the skin and set aside the broth to boil everything else. I blended liver, chicken hearts and sardines and cooked it in coconut oil. Then poured in chicken broth, sweet potato, rice, broccoli and frozen spinach. This is still not a substitute for all his meals because he still eats kibble, but I like giving him some variety. #homemadedogfood

THDoggie food 🐶 🥘 🐾
What I use:
2-3 tbsp coconut oil
7lbs ground turkey
1lb brown rice
2 tbsp butter
2 medium sweet potatoes
1 crown of broccoli or 1- 12oz bag of frozen broccoli
1 bag 12 oz chopped spinach
2 bags 12oz frozen carrots/peas
1/2 can of 100% pumpkin purée
12 scoops of eggshell calciim (per container instructions)
Instructions:
Cook ground turkey in coconut oil on medium heat. Once that’s about cooked, start adding veggies. I like to start with sweet potatoes since they take longest to cook, then broccoli, spinach, carrots/peas, pumpkin purée. Mix every time you add a veggie. Once the rice is cooked (about 40-45 minutes) add that in. It normally takes the ground beef/veggie mix about the same time to cook and be ready for the rice as it does for the rice to cook, so I start them at the same time.
Once the rice is mixed in, cover and cook an additional 10-15 minutes and turn off heat. Let it completely cool before adding the eggshell calcium.
I add more to this as this is a basic mix. some my dogs like, some they don’t. I’ve added apples, blueberries, def beef liver/organs (they love this and it’s great for them), and salmon. When I don’t add salmon, I make sure they get omega3. I also give them a multivitamin.
As for serving size, my vet recommended 2-3% of their body weight per meal (2x a day). My dogs weigh about 5 lbs each (that’s about .15 lbs, so that would be 68g per meal. I round it up to 70g). They were overweight before I started making their food (about 6-7lbs each) and they’ve cut the extra weight, they are energetic and their skin and coat are so much better than before.
I’d like to add that I spend about $38-40 every two weeks on their food which is nothing compared to how much the fresh meal services cost (about $120 for ONE DOG per month).
If you’ve been considering making your doggies food, I think you should give it a try! It takes about an hour to prep and cook and once it’s cool, just freeze and take out a container to thaw as you need it.
Every doggie is different with different needs, so I recommend consulting your vet if you have any questions or concerns regarding your baby!

KUToday I made salmon ochazuke for BO. 🐾
Ochazuke is a simple Japanese comfort dish made by pouring warm broth or tea over rice.🐟🍚
We’ve recently been learning about homemade dog food in Japan because we want BO to enjoy delicious and healthy meals.
It’s been really interesting to see the differences between what is commonly recommended in the U.S. and the ingredients dogs enjoy in Japan.
I also took a course in Japan to better understand which foods are safe and healthy for dogs. 💻💭
He’s been trying small amounts of different foods every day.
So far, he seems to love eggs, beef, and fish.
One of the reasons I made salmon ochazuke is that the broth helps him get more hydration.
BO sometimes doesn’t drink much water, so this is an easy way for him to get fluids from his meal.
Rice is also gentle on a dog’s stomach and easy to digest.
I actually meant to sprinkle his multivitamin powder on top, but I accidentally used bone broth powder instead.
It turned out to work really well with the broth and added even more umami. ❤️

RYMaking the dogs’ food for the week 🐾💪
This batch gives us 7 days and runs about $50 total.
Here’s what we’re using:
10 lbs 93% lean turkey
3 lbs organic broccoli
2 lbs organic carrots
3 cans green beans
1 can pumpkin
I cook the turkey all the way through with a little avocado oil for healthy fats. I steam the broccoli and carrots. Then I run the green beans, broccoli and carrots through the food processor.
Everything goes into a large bin. Turkey first. Then all the processed veggies. Mix it thoroughly. Let it cool. Then bag it up.
For Sophie, Popcorn and Little Guy, who are all between 30 and 35 pounds, they share one bag of the mix per day. That one bag is combined with fresh white rice and their daily vitamins.
The vitamins are non negotiable.
They absolutely love this food. It keeps them lean, strong and healthy and it’s far better than commercial dog food.
You control the ingredients. You control the quality.
Feed them like family. Because they are. 🐶❤️
