One signal. One response. That’s the golden rule. In session 10 of her training program, Jody Hartstone explains why your cues need to be clear and easy for your horse to understand. 🐴 As riders, we’re often taught to “do less” in the saddle, but still ask for a lot. That can result in overlapping signals the horse can’t separate. When cues are simple and consistent, your horse can respond with confidence. It’s a small change that helps your horse feel more secure and confident in training. 🌟 Watch Jody’s full Equitation Science program in Ridely. It’s part of the Horse Welfare Score challenge. 🎯 #EquitationScience #JodyHartstone #HorseTrainingTips #ClearCues

Way down we go…🎶 as in🙌: going deeper into the feel, the foundation, the connection. Two powerhouse horses, Nevada & Braveheart, each shining in their own way. Working in-hand takes us back to the details, the feel, and to that place we all recognise…😉 ..where we want to grow and transform together with our horses. 💪🏼💕 Maybe you recognise moments like this ✨ those little magic moments ✨ in your own work with your horse. Nevada & Braveheart remind me of that every day🥰 #humanhorseacademy #greetjehakvoort #noriker #appaloosa #horsetraining #horsefitness #humanhorseheartbridle #horsetrainingtips

The three ways I have used a rope to pick up my horses back feet…the Google advice was NOT good my friends. I got a laugh out of it though. The last example shows the best and safest way to get the rope around your horses hoof- shout out to my horse girls in the comments who always have the best advice. #beginnerhorserider #learningtorideahorseat40 #HorseTrainingTips

When I think about teaching a soft stop, these are the two things I think think about. 1 "your halt is only as good as your back up" Steve bradey 2. Never walk your horse forward out a stop when he is first learning. I use opposites to correct mistakes if I walk my horse out a stop he might think hmmmm maybe I shouldn't stop. The turn helps the horse to weight their hind end - better quality stop. #ilovehorses🐴 #softstop #horsetraining #horsetrainingtips

You can’t force or bribe a horse out of a fear response. In the first scene, you can see Elmo’s first encounter with the barn-puppy. He goes straight into FIGHT. Seconds later he attempts to self regulate by rolling and shaking off the stress. The second scene is more than a year later. He spots the, now adult, dog and goes straight to FREEZE. He is fixated on the dog and won’t regulate out of his own accord. His body is telling him it’s not safe, based on the past experience. I cannot force or bribe a sense of safety, not with pressure neither with food. All I can do, is make him FEEL it’s safe by bringing down my own heart rate and relaxing my body, until his body synchronises and he FEELS it too. Don’t expect your horse to trust your judgment straight away. This process takes practice. But it pays off 🙏🏻 Let me know if you want a video with a breathing exercise. Most horses never reach tendon-based movement because they’re trained to push instead of release ❌ What you see in this video wasn’t trained as an exercise. It wasn’t corrected, repeated, rehearsed or driven. The body was prepared first: The horse learned how to enter tendon-based movement and change horizontal vector of power distribution into a vertical one. Sadly, 99% of horses never experience it. When a horse is trained to push, muscles dominate the movement. That creates effort, weight, and eventually resistance. When a horse is prepared and taught to consciously to release resistance within the movement, muscles stop forcing and tendons begin storing and releasing energy. That’s when movement becomes light. That’s when balance starts carrying itself. And that’s when advanced movement appears without being asked for, just by expressing unity and shifting between movement patterns. This is why I don’t start young horses with “work”. I start with body preparation, nervous system regulation, and movement mechanics the body can actually understand. Because once the body understands, the movement doesn’t need to be taught — it starts to be integrated by the CNS, and owned by the horse. 🔥🔥🔥 If you want to develop tendon-based movement with your horse instead of pushing for results, comment “TRAINING PLAN” and I’ll guide you through the next steps. Let’s do this! 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽 #onehorselife #dressagehorse #equinebiomechanics #horsetrainer #horsetrainingtips
