Most disability training doesn't work. And I think it's time we said that out loud. 👇 Here's the problem: organizations treat disability training like a checkbox. One session. One module. Done. But real inclusion isn't built in an afternoon. It's built through: → Ongoing learning, not one-time events → Training that's specific to roles and power → Scenarios that are real and uncomfortable → Understanding that "disability" isn't one thing The takeaway? Stop training people to tolerate disability. Start building systems where disabled people don't have to fight to be heard. That shift? That's where inclusion actually lives. — Della Leonor | Disability Inclusion Trainer & Advocate

Ability isn’t something you either have or don’t have. It’s something you build. Every time you show up. Every time you try again. Every time you choose progress over perfection. At UMA, we don’t define people by limitations. We focus on what’s possible — at every stage of life. As Australia's peak body for disability inclusion, we've spent decades working alongside organisations committed to creating workplaces where everyone can participate and thrive. Our training translates that expertise into practical, engaging learning - helping your people build real disability confidence, not just awareness. Every organisation is different, so we offer flexible learning pathways that support your people at every stage of your inclusion journey. Whether that's through: • Organisation workshops tailored to your inclusion journey, delivered online and designed to support your people to build confidence from where they are now. • Public workshops available for self-booking via our website - ideal for smaller organisations or individuals seeking professional development. • Flexible self-paced eLearning, available as a 12-month licence or fully integrated into your LMS. 🌟 Special Offer: We're currently updating our elearns, and organisations who purchase SCORM files before June 30, 2026, will receive the equivalent upgraded content free as it launches! The outcome is the same: real disability confidence, not just awareness. In this short video, our CEO Amy Whalley shares what that means in practice - and how we can support your organisation's next step. ➡️ Watch, then visit the link to explore our full training offering. People know how powerful it feels to work toward something big. Something that stretches what you thought was possible for you. You reach the finish line and look back and think, I did that. It changes you. It expands what you believe you are capable of. It creates new pathways. Pushing yourself toward a goal that feels hard can be life-changing. Too often, people with disabilities are offered protection from that experience instead of access to it. At Melly’s, we believe it would be a mistake not to give each person the chance to grow, improve, and discover what they are capable of. We know how meaningful it feels to reach a goal you once thought was out of reach. Why would we deny someone that deeply human experience? We believe people with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve the same opportunities many others are given without question: the chance to practice, receive feedback, build stamina, improve performance, and feel proud of progress they worked for. That is not about forcing someone to be someone they are not. That is about giving someone the tools to understand where they are, where they want to go, and what progress can look like. Please do not assume fixed limits for people with disabilities. Fair expectations, when paired with the right support, are often the very thing that opens the door to confidence, contribution, and a bigger life. 🫶 #herestocelebratingallabilities #morealikethandifferent #equality #dontassumefixedlimits

How is it the end of March already?! 😳✨ Behind the scenes, it’s been a big few months for our participants—and the progress has been incredible to witness 🤍 We kicked off the year with vision boards and clear intentions, and since then it’s been all about showing up. From moving their bodies and staying active, to meal prepping, making healthier choices, and keeping themselves accountable… the consistency has been so powerful 💪🌱 What’s been even more amazing is seeing everyone step outside their comfort zones and give new activities a go—because that’s where real growth happens ✨ We are beyond proud of the goals already achieved this year and can’t wait to see what the next few months bring 🚀 #NDISBrisbane #BrisbaneNDIS #SupportWorkerLife #NDISSupport #disabilityawareness

We’re excited to share that AFK has launched our new Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) services. Over the past few months, we’ve been developing training and consultancy to help organisations build more inclusive workplaces for disabled and neurodivergent people. Our sessions are shaped by lived experience, helping organisations better understand the barriers people face and how to remove them. Every organisation is on a different journey when it comes to inclusion. That’s why our training can be tailored to your team, your workplace and your goals. Together, we can create workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. 🔗 Learn more via the link in our bio. #DisabilityInclusion #Neurodiversity #InclusiveWorkplaces #Accessibility #EDI #DisabilityAwareness #Neurodivergent #InclusionMatters

I recently had the opportunity to be featured in a video introducing my work with Birmingham Children’s Trust, and it got me thinking about something bigger than just one role. For me, this is not just a job title. It is about how organisations understand disability, remove barriers, and create environments where people can actually thrive, not just “cope.” At Birmingham Children’s Trust, my focus is on supporting systems to work better for everyone. That includes working with managers, advising on reasonable adjustments, contributing to policy and practice, and making sure disabled staff are not left navigating barriers alone. But the reality is, this work applies far beyond one organisation. Every workplace has barriers. Some are physical, many are attitudinal, and most are built into everyday processes that people do not even question. My role, wherever I am, is to help organisations see those barriers and do something about them. That means: • Challenging assumptions • Supporting better decision-making • Bridging the gap between policy and lived experience • Helping leaders understand what inclusion actually looks like in practice I am proud of the work I am doing with Birmingham Children’s Trust, and I am equally committed to continuing this work wherever it is needed. hashtag#DisabilityInclusion hashtag#EquityNotEquality hashtag#AccessibilityMatters hashtag#EDI hashtag#Leadership
