How to add the right seasonings to the hair? (Cook a good hair !) ft. Sua
*NOTE that you must first identify the light source.*
1. When you have your base colors done, (I usually pick my base colors desaturated) add a gradient to set the tone and then a multiply layer to shade
(You can do that in any order)
—For the gradients on the bangs it's the same as the tone of the skin to make its surroundings warm.
—I use 3 systems of gradients (all in soft airbrush): for setting the color tone, for shading, and for lighting. You can do that too!
2. Then you can sculpt these shadings and gradients furthermore by adding soft and hard edges. Color pick from those gradients you've placed earlier.
(play around and see what looks best for you!)
3. Add the highlight like this by using a fade pen then sculpting it with a soft eraser. I also add a second highlight (same procedure aforementioned) that's slightly darker than the main highlight, like a reflection?
4. Now that your simple hair shading is done we can polish it by painting over it. Just refine the hair, add more hair strands if you'd like to combined with using the liquify pen to adjust
—To make some shading/lighting segments pop, add a vibrant outline in contrast to its darkness / desaturation. Just like from Day 1.
And look at this amazing effect when applied on hair highlights.
—You can also add these on the inner of the hair, commonly placed in areas like these (shown below). For a decent contrast.
Now you cooked up some good 'ol hair with the right seasonings. Place on a colorful gradient plate to serve, this alone can feed a family of 6.
