LIWhen I applied to this job in 2017 I didn’t even know it existed…
I am an instructional designer aka learning experience designer. I’ve also been called a communication consultant or a visualiser. Of course I prefer the latter! Sounds jazzy 😏
Simply put I create eLearning (and sometimes presentations). I don’t teach online, no. I trawl through content and make packaged eLearning courses out of it. I also don’t actually do the graphic design. I deal with structure, text, engagement and assessments. I suggest visuals and interactions, script voiceovers and storyboard animations. I then give that storyboard to a designer who makes it look all pretty and finished. It’s a similar process for presentations fyi, which I also do 😊
It’s not a profession that you need to study for, you fall into it if you have relevant skills. You learn on the job. It’s also an industry that’s been BOOOOOMing since covid so I thought I’d share in case anyone else wants to give it a shot 😬
