🚫 A fandelier is never the right option. They try to do two jobs and fail at both. ❌ Almost always too small ❌ Weak airflow (they don’t actually cool the room) ❌ Instantly cheapen the space 💡 Ceiling light sizing rule 💡 Room length + width (in feet) = minimum diameter in inches. Taller baseboards do elevate a space—no question. But instead of paying for oversized boards, we’ll often build the height visually. Standard baseboard + a small gap + a slim trim detail above, all painted the same colour = a taller, more custom look. Same effect, more control, and a bit of savings without sacrificing the design. This is where detailing matters. #millworkdesign #basedetails #interiordesigntips #custommillwork #designdetails

Avoid the most expensive slab regret homeowners face — and it’s not what you think. Most slab regret doesn’t happen in the showroom. It happens after installation, when homeowners finally see what no one explained to them. Here are the five mistakes I see over and over again: 1️⃣ Choosing based on a tiny sample A small piece won’t show veining, movement, or undertones. The full slab can look completely different. 2️⃣ Not understanding finish differences Polished shows everything. Honed softens the look but shows fingerprints. Leathered hides a lot but deepens the color. Your lifestyle should choose your finish — not trends. 3️⃣ Assuming all slabs with the same name look the same Natural stone is unpredictable. Two slabs with the same name can look like two different materials. This is normal — but no one tells homeowners. 4️⃣ Skipping the edge profile decision The edge changes the entire look. Eased is clean. Mitered is modern. Ogee is traditional. If you don’t choose intentionally, installers choose for you. 5️⃣ Choosing by color instead of durability Marble etches. Dolomite can vary. Quartzite can be incredibly strong — but not every quartzite performs the same. Material matters more than color. Slab regret is real. But every single one of these mistakes is preventable when you know what to look for. If you want help choosing a slab that actually fits your cabinets and lifestyle, comment SLABHELP and I’ll send you a few perfect starting options. #kitchendesign #stoneslab #naturalstone #quartzitekitchen #interiordesigntips #renovationadvice #stoneselection

After designing homes at every budget level, I’ve learned that the difference between “nice” and truly polished isn’t about spending more, it’s about avoiding a few common missteps. Spaces fall flat when everything matches, when powder rooms are ignored, when entries feel boring, or when trim and cabinetry are treated as defaults instead of design tools. Thoughtful mixing, high impact first impressions, tailored details, and cabinetry that works with the architecture—not against it—are what quietly separate designer homes from standard ones. Most homes don’t need more stuff — they need better decisions. If that clicked, follow for more. ✨And DM me if you’re unsure what to fix first.✨ #InteriorDesignTips #DesignKnowledge #InteriorDesignCommunity #WellDesignedLiving #ThoughtfulInteriors #WellDesignedSpaces #NYCInteriorDesigner #NewYorkCityDesign #NYCHome

I do not want to be precious about our home but I do want it to look nice so I’m constantly trying to work out ways I can create a beautiful family space that works for everyone. Most importantly though it’s about remembering that it’s all just stuff. So if anything does get broken or ruined it doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. #interiordesign #interiordesigntips #familyhome
