Irish History is the Coloniser Blueprint. 🇮🇪🌍 The tactics used to subjugate Africa and the diaspora didn’t start there—they were perfected in Ireland over 800 years. From the removal of language and religion to the “divide and conquer” strategies of the Tudor invasions and Oliver Cromwell, the playbook remains the same. 📖⚔️ We must learn each other’s stories to fight neocolonialism today. Liberation is a global mission. ✊🏾✨

Cillian Murphy says he felt like the universe was telling him to make ‘Small Things Like These’. The film tells the story of a Wexford man, coal merchant Bill Furlong who uncovers a terrible scene at a local Magdalene laundry. Based on the Booker Prize-winning book by Claire Keegan, it confronts into a dark part of Irish History in a way which co-producer Murphy hopes is “gently provocative.” 📲#rtenews #cillianmurphy #smallthingslikethese

For centuries, Ireland was colonized by Britain. Land was taken, settlers were placed on confiscated land, political rights were restricted, and military force was used to control the population. Irish history is shaped by resistance movements, uprisings, famine, displacement, and a long struggle for self-determination. Because of that history, many Irish people see parallels when they look at Palestine. The idea of land confiscation. Military checkpoints. Occupation. Detention without trial. Civilian casualties. A population fighting for sovereignty. Whether or not someone believes the situations are identical, the power dynamics feel familiar to many people in Ireland. Solidarity between Irish and Palestinian movements also goes back decades. During the late 20th century, Irish activists and Palestinian groups openly expressed support for each other, and that solidarity became embedded in grassroots activism, student movements, and trade unions. You can still see it today in murals across Belfast and Derry, protests in Dublin, and in Ireland’s political culture, which tends to be strongly anti-imperialist and supportive of national self-determination movements. Ireland’s national story is deeply shaped by colonization, famine, occupation, and resistance. So when many Irish people look at Palestine, they see echoes of their own history rather than distant “conflict.” #irishhistory #antiimperialism #anticolonial #politicaleducation #stpatricksday2026

Looking for a bit of Irish history? More than 1,200 years ago Celtic monks painstakingly recorded the Book of Kells. The religious text brings medieval art, religion and culture to the modern world. While Muskegon does not have the original from 800 A.D. − that’s preserved at Trinity College in Dublin − it is one of very few exact copies of the illuminated manuscript.
