Nara itinerary for first timers in Japan 🇯🇵🦌 If you’re travelling to Japan and visiting Nara for the first time and only have one day for it, here is the ultimate guide to the 8 best things to do in Nara! As someone who’s been living in Japan for 2 years, these are the things I would do and places I would visit in Nara if I had to do it all over again for the first time: 📍Nakatanidou- try the wormwood mochi which was so soft, not too sweet and fresh! Make sure you ask the staff for the timings to watch the live mochi pounding show 📍Salon Naramachi- my favourite tea house in Nara! Their matcha affogato is a must try 📍Yoshidaen- Tea store selling sencha, matcha and snacks. They also stock Marukyu Koyamaen but the do sell out quick so I would recommend going early 📍Nara Deer Park- feed cute deers with deer biscuits which you can purchase at the park for 200 yen 📍Wakakusayama Hill- there is a small entry fee to enter but the view is spectacular and you get to spend time with more deers with less people 📍Toda-ji Temple- you’ll find one of Japan’s largest bronze Buddha statue here 📍Maguro Koya- enjoy fresh melt in your mouth Toro sashimi bowl 📍Higashimuki Shopping Street, Sanyo-dori Shopping Street- there’s lots of Japanese street food to try, things to see and buy such as ceramics, kitchenware, homeware etc. Let me know if you have any questions and mention in the comments where you would like an itinerary of next 💕 #japan #japantravel #japantraveltips

🎋 & its 20 minutes away! SAVE the deets👇🏼 ✨✨ Follow @upscaleadventurers for bucket list travel inspo! ✨✨ All the details 👇 Planning a trip to Japan and dreaming of wandering through Kyoto’s iconic bamboo forests? 🌿 Here’s the difference between the famous one you’ve seen all over IG… and the peaceful one just a short walk away. ✨ The Reveal: That quiet, empty bamboo path you saw in our reel? It wasn’t Arashiyama… it was Adashino Bamboo Forest, only a 20-minute walk from the crowds. If you want those serene, no-one-else-in-your-shot bamboo photos, head to Adashino right at opening (or a little before!). 🎋 Arashiyama Bamboo Grove (Kyoto’s most famous bamboo forest) – Hours: Open 24/7 – Cost: Free – Best for: Iconic Kyoto experience, easy access, nearby shops + Tenryu-ji Temple – What to know: Always busy, especially from 8–11 am; trains drop visitors right into the district – Photo tip: Sunrise is your best chance for fewer crowds, but it’s rarely empty 🎍 Adashino Bamboo Forest (the peaceful alternative 20 min away) – Hours: 9:00–16:00 (varies slightly by season) – Cost: ~¥500 per person – Best for: Quiet paths, no crowds, beautiful light through the bamboo – What to know: Located within Adashino Nenbutsu-ji Temple grounds, closes early, fewer tour groups – Photo tip: Arrive at or before opening for dreamy, empty-path photos — this is the secret to crowd-free bamboo shots If Japan is on your bucket list, save this for your Kyoto itinerary 🗺️🇯🇵 #KyotoJapan #KyotoItinerary #JapanTravelTips #VisitJapan #KyotoBambooForest

🇯🇵 Before you travel to Japan, save this medicine list. When we were in Osaka, I suddenly fell sick. Instead of panicking, this list helped me quickly find the right medicine. You can buy most of these at big electronics + drugstores like Yodobashi Umeda (Osaka). 🩺 Pain relief (15+) 鎮痛剤 (Chintsu-zai) – headache, fever, toothache バファリン (Bufferin) – aspirin Tylenol – paracetamol EVE (イブ) – ibuprofen (EVE A works for cold/flu) リングル (Ringl) – ibuprofen capsules 🤢 Stomach issues 胃腸薬 (Icho-yaku) – stomach pain/bloating ガスター10 (Gaster 10) – stomach tablets ビオフェルミン (Biofermin) – gut bacteria tablets 下痢止め (Geridome) – diarrhea Stoppa – fast dissolving diarrhea tablet 🤧 Cold & Flu パブロン (Paburon) – cold medicine 葛根湯 (Kakkonto) – Japanese herbal cold remedy I personally used ルルアタックEX (Lulu Attack EX) when I fell sick. 🦟 Insect bites かゆみどめ (Kayumidome) – anti-itch gel ムヒアルファ (Muhi Alfa) – bite cream 🚗 Travel sickness アネロン (Aneron) – 24hr capsule トラベルミン (Travelmin) – motion sickness tablet トラベルミンジュニア – for kids 5+ 👀 Eye drops 目薬 (Megusuri) – for dry eyes / styes You can also visit a pharmacist and use Google Translate with short sentences. Always check with a pharmacist if unsure. Would you buy medicines in Japan or carry everything from home? 👇 Follow @iam_harsh for more relatable travel content. Save this for your trip. 🍣 6 Things You Should Never Do at a Sushi Restaurant in Japan 🍣 Sushi isn’t just food in Japan — it’s a culture, a craft, and a quiet conversation between the chef and the guest. That’s why certain actions, even if they’re common elsewhere, can feel a little off at a traditional sushi restaurant. Here are 6 sushi manners to be aware of 👇 Level 1: Wearing strong perfume → Sushi is all about aroma. Strong scents can ruin the experience for everyone. Level 2: Rubbing disposable chopsticks together → This can imply the restaurant uses cheap chopsticks. Not the best message. Level 3: Cheers-ing with sushi → Sushi isn’t meant to be clinked like a drink. Enjoy it calmly, one piece at a time. Level 4: Dipping the rice side into soy sauce → The rice absorbs too much soy sauce and falls apart. Fish side only. Level 5: Flipping gunkan sushi upside down into soy sauce → Yes, many people do this… but it’s actually considered bad manners. Level 6: Mixing wasabi into soy sauce → This is one of the most debated topics of all 👀 👉 Do you think dissolving wasabi into soy sauce is good manners or not? Let me know what you think in the comments! If you’re planning to visit Japan, love Japanese culture, or are learning Japanese, save this for later ✨ #VisitJapan #JapaneseCulture #JapanTravelTips #LearnJapanese #SushiEtiquette
