A tiny life. A huge story. Meet Punch-kun, a baby Japanese macaque from Ichikawa City Zoo in Japan. He was born in July 2025… and abandoned by his mother shortly after birth. A heartbreaking situation that sometimes happens with first-time or stressed mothers in captivity. After being cared for by zookeepers, Punch was introduced to the monkey group in January 2026. But he struggled. He didn’t understand social signals, felt anxious, and couldn’t fit in with the others. So the keepers gave him something simple… a large plush orangutan toy. And something beautiful happened. Punch bonded with the toy like it was his mother. He dragged it everywhere. Slept with it. Held it whenever he felt scared. People online started calling it “Oran Mama.” In February 2026, photos of the tiny monkey clinging to his toy touched millions of hearts and went viral worldwide, bringing huge crowds to the zoo. The best part? Recent updates show hope. Punch is slowly learning social skills, playing with other young monkeys, and was even groomed by an adult macaque — a powerful sign that he’s finally being accepted. Sometimes love doesn’t come the way we expect… but it still finds us. ❤️ #punch #japan #explorepage #emotions #trending

Loved across the oceans ❤️❤️ Punch (called Panchi-kun in Japanese) is a baby Japanese macaque (a type of monkey) at the Ichikawa City Zoo in Ichikawa, Chiba, Japan. Punch was abandoned by his mother shortly after being born in July 2025. Zookeepers raised him by hand and, noticing he was lonely and anxious, gave him a stuffed orangutan plush toy for comfort. He became inseparable from the plush — carrying, hugging, or sleeping with it. Punch has started socializing more with other macaques, with grooming and play 😍 IKEA Japan, the maker of the stuffed toy he loves (called DJUNGELSKOG), donated more plush toys to the zoo to ensure he always has comfort items ❤️ [punch monkey, punch, japan, zoo, plushie, punch plushie, punch the monkey] #punch #monkey #japan #fyp がんばれパンチ #foryou

The Japanese macaque, commonly known as the snow monkey, is native to Japan and is famous for living in cold, mountainous regions. These intelligent and highly social primates are known for their thick fur, red faces, and remarkable ability to survive snowy winters, often bathing in natural hot springs to stay warm. Snow monkeys are omnivores, eating fruits, seeds, insects, and occasionally small animals. In this video, a baby snow monkey is seen carefully holding and eating a strawberry. Young macaques learn feeding behaviours by observing their mothers and other members of the troop. The strawberry provides natural sugars and nutrients, and the baby’s curious, gentle movements highlight both its developing motor skills and the strong nurturing environment within the group. Punchh... 🥺❤️‍🩹🫂 Punch doesn't weigh much. He's barely a baby. But for months he's been carrying something enormous, something commonplace: loneliness. This little Japanese macaque, born on July 26, 2025, was rejected by his mother shortly after coming into the world. Without maternal warmth and without a group to protect him, Punch was left in the care of the keepers at the Ichikawa Zoo and Botanical Garden in Chiba Prefecture. There, amid constant care, bottle feedings, and veterinary supervision, something unexpected happened. Punch clung to a stuffed animal as if it were his last certainty. An orangutan-shaped doll became his refuge, and his silent embrace began to go viral around the world. The viral images show Punch sleeping with the stuffed animal pressed against his chest, walking with it around his enclosure, reaching for it when something frightens him. A simple gesture that has touched the hearts of thousands. 193K Caretakers explain that these objects function as "comfort objects," just as human babies are soothed by a blanket or a toy. Punch didn't just need food: he needed comfort. But... the story of #Punch hasn't stopped at viral cuteness. In recent weeks, his life has taken a hopeful turn. According to international media reports, Punch has begun interacting with other monkeys. And most significantly, an adult in the troop has offered him his first grooming session, the act of grooming that, in the primate world, signifies acceptance, care, and belonging. It's a small gesture, but in their language, it says it all... it seems Punch is starting to stop being alone This somewhat atypical story reminds us that comfort is not exclusive to humans. That fear, the need for affection, and the desire to belong are universal. And that, sometimes, the end is not a goodbye to the stuffed animal but the beginning of a real hug. #punchinjapan #punchinworld #monkeypunch #trending

The post showcases a 60-second video of a Japanese macaque (Macaca fuscata) serenely munching on purple bougainvillea flowers and yellow calendula petals from a bowl, its distant gaze evoking a comically philosophical mood amid gentle human interaction. Posted by , a popular account dedicated to wildlife wonders, it quickly amassed over 10,000 likes and 300 replies, with users joking about the monkey's "elderly sage" vibe or daydreams of bananas. Macaques are omnivorous foragers that readily consume flowers for nectar and pollen, a behaviour supported by studies in Ethology journal showing such relaxed feeding enhances social bonding in troops.

In a truly heartbreaking moment caught on camera, the survival struggle of a tiny Japanese macaque named Punch has touched millions of hearts worldwide. Someone captured the footage of this 7-month-old infant at Japan’s Ichikawa City Zoo, who was abandoned by his mother at birth and forced to navigate the complex hierarchy of a massive monkey troop alone. The video went viral as viewers watched the “nightmare” of Punch being bullied and thrashed by older, aggressive monkeys, only to see him desperately retreat and clutch a lifeless plush orangutan-his only source of warmth and a “surrogate mother” in a world that has been anything but kind to him. . . . . #fyp #reel #japan #ichikawazoo #punch

Meet Punch, the macaque whose story touches every heart 🐒💔 Born at Ichikawa City Zoo, his own mother rejected him right after birth. Zookeepers stepped in to hand-raise him — feeding him milk from a bottle, keeping him warm, and giving him the love he needed during those fragile early days. As he grew older, he was moved to an enclosure with other monkeys, but fitting in proved very difficult. He often stayed apart, seeming lost and unsure around the group. To help calm his anxiety, the staff gave him a soft plush toy as a stand-in mother. Punch bonded with it instantly and now carries his stuffed “mom” everywhere — holding it tightly to his chest while he eats, rests, or quietly watches the world around him. A recent video of him clinging to his toy went viral, drawing visitors who come especially to see the sweet, lonely Japanese macaque and his constant companion. 🎥 Video credit: Unknown (Please DM me if you’re the owner so I can give proper credit or remove it).
