EDOne wrong click changed EDM forever
Before becoming KSHMR, Niles Hollowell-Dhar was half of The Cataracs, and during a 2012 Producers Conference talk he revealed how one of the most iconic sounds of the 2010s came from pure accident.
While working on “Like A G6” with Far East Movement and Dev, he was trying to design a heavy bass, but accidentally dragged a bell melody into the wrong lane inside his DAW.
Instead of fixing it, he kept it, and that glitchy high-pitched synth became the signature hook that helped send the track to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
It’s a perfect reminder that some of the biggest records aren’t engineered perfectly, they’re discovered by mistake.
