What we see on a map is not always an exact representation of reality. Most world maps use the Mercator projection, which preserves direction for navigation but distorts size and distance especially as we move away from the equator. In this image, two distances are compared one across Africa and one across Russia. Although one appears shorter on the map, it is actually longer in reality, showing how visual perception can differ from true measurements on Earth. #geography #earth #facts #nature #knowledge

Professor Walter Lewin presents period of oscillation of a pendulum. The time for one complete cycle, a left swing and a right swing, is called the period. The period of a simple pendulum, the time for one full swing, is primarily determined by its length (L) and the acceleration due to gravity (g), following the formula T = 2π√(l/g), especially for small swing angles (amplitudes). Mass and amplitude (for small angles) don’t affect the period, but the period increases with length and decreases with stronger gravity. REMARKS: - Longer pendulums have longer periods (swings take more time). - Stronger gravity (like on Earth vs. the Moon) results in a shorter period (faster swing). - The mass of the pendulum bob does not change the period. - For small angles (around 15° or less), the size of the swing doesn’t significantly alter the period. #learning #science #knowledge

The video demonstrates a “shortcut” for square roots by linking /125=5 and 64=8 to derive 289=17 and /196=14 via subtractions like 10-2=8 and 19-2=17, using perfect powers where digit coincidences align. This pattern holds only for these handpicked numbers, as replies show it fails for reordered digits (e.g., 3/251*5) or non-perfect squares like /14 or /50, revealing no general rule. Scientists once placed a transparent glass barrier inside an aquarium. On one side was a fierce pike, and on the other side were several smaller fish swimming freely. When the hungry pike saw the smaller fish, it immediately rushed forward to attack. Bang. It slammed straight into the glass and bounced back. Confused, the pike kept trying again and again, but every attempt ended the same way. The repeated collisions injured its head and knocked off some of its scales. Eventually, the pike became frightened and retreated to a corner of the tank. After some time, the scientists quietly removed the glass barrier. The smaller fish now swam freely throughout the aquarium, even brushing against the pike's mouth. But the pike never tried to eat them again. Even though it was hungry, it refused to attack. In its mind, the invisible wall was still there. A few days later, the pike reportedly died of starvation, surrounded by food. This phenomenon is often referred to as the Pike Effect or Pike Syndrome. It's often used as a metaphor for how repeated failure can create invisible limits in the mind. That small hole you see in the middle of many plastic chairs is not a mistake. It’s actually part of the design. The hole lets water drain out when the chair gets wet, which is why outdoor chairs dry quickly after rain. Another reason is air, the hole helps airlock and prevent chairs from being stuck to eachother during transportation. So that tiny hole is a simple trick that makes plastic chairs stronger and better for outdoor use. . #facts #didyouknow #interestingfacts #todayilearned #knowledge

Before launch, both the truck and the person are already moving forward at 80 km/h relative to the ground. When the person is launched backward at 80 km/h from the truck, that speed is measured relative to the truck itself. From the ground’s perspective: 80 km/h forward − 80 km/h backward = 0 km/h So for a brief moment, the person appears to come to a complete stop relative to the road before gravity takes over. Inside the truck, observers see the person shoot backward at high speed. But to someone standing still outside, the forward motion has simply been canceled by an equal backward push. This happens because motion is always relative, velocities add and subtract depending on the frame of reference. Video - @_ddsquad #science #physics #knowledge

Crude oil Refining Process 😀 . #crudeoil #shorts #viralreels #facts #knowledge . . Crude oil cannot be used directly, so it is refined in oil refineries. First, crude oil is taken out from deep underground using oil wells. After that, it is transported to refineries through pipelines or ships. In the refinery, the first step is distillation, where crude oil is heated at very high temperature. When the oil becomes hot, different parts of it turn into vapor and start rising. Inside a tall distillation tower, the temperature is different at different levels. Because of this, substances separate according to their boiling points. At the top, light gases like LPG are collected. Below that, petrol and naphtha are obtained. After that, kerosene and diesel are separated. At the bottom, heavy oil and bitumen remain. After distillation, these fuels go through more chemical processes to become cleaner and better. One important process is cracking, where large molecules are broken into smaller ones. This process increases the amount of petrol and diesel. After refining, these fuels are used in cars, airplanes, ships, and factories. This is how crude oil is refined and converted into useful fuels and products.

Tectonic plates move slowly, yet stress builds for years where plates meet. When stress crosses a limit, the plates slip during an undersea earthquake. This sudden movement lifts or drops the seafloor by several meters. Water above the seafloor shifts instantly to match the new shape. This displacement sends energy upward and outward through the ocean. In deep water, the waves travel fast with low height. As waves reach shallow coastal areas, speed drops and height rises. Water piles up, forming powerful waves that strike the shore. This process explains why many major tsunamis begin at subduction zones and why early warning systems focus on plate boundaries. via : noaabroll #earth #knowledge #tectonicplates #tsunami #technology
