SOLet’s talk about the Layback! It’s so important to get the free leg in a correct position, not only for the spin to be faster, but also for aesthetics.
You will not see many doing correct laybacks, even on the professional scene. 😵💫 If so, then more from Americans. American skaters were always known to have gorgeous laybacks. Sasha Cohen for instance, she had the most perfect parallel leg position imo. ❤️ Even this trick I share in the video comes from a tip from the American skater Caryn Kadavy (skater of the 80s & a must watch!) Sadly because of the new judging system and the layback not being considered a level, we have lost the art of laybacks 😓
At first it seems weird to flex the foot & to even flex it upwards in the spin, but as you will see, it doesn’t even look flexed, so don’t worry about your foot looking ugly in the spin by doing this, it won’t 😁

FLHOW TO DO A LAYBACK SPIN?
KEY POINTS FOR LAYBACK:
1️⃣Press the hips forward as you lean back
2️⃣Keep the neck alignment and don’t throw your head back
3️⃣Turn out the knee as the foot lifts off the ground
Repeat this on both sides for 15-20 reps.
🔑to Success….try a challenge by adding ankle weights.
